Ashley M. Opfer got her undergraduate degree in theatre and dance education from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa in 2008. While completing her student teaching experience in Minneapolis, Minnesota she saw many of her students struggling with legal problems. She decided that she could not help these students in the way that she wanted to help as a teacher and so she made the decision to attend law school in order to be an attorney who would advocate for children and families.Ashley received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law in May of 2012 and was admitted to practice law in Colorado the same year. During her time in law school, Ashley honed her advocacy and litigation skills as a member of the University's National Trial Team. Before joining Stowell P.C., Ashley tailored her legal research and writing skills as a clerk for the Honorable Robert McGahey in the 2nd Judicial District and learned many of the practical skills necessary as a domestic relations intern in Littleton, Colorado. Ashley has been an attorney at Stowell P.C. since November of 2012 and practices in the areas of family law, juvenile law, and estate planning. She is passionate about and committed to helping families through the legal system.Outside of the practice of law, Ashley is married and has one son. She has a sheltie and enjoys snowboarding, swimming, camping and bike riding.

Sarah Giacovelli has been practicing law since 2000. A graduate of Willamette University in Salem, Oregon and the University of Utah, Sarah has concentrated her legal career in the areas of domestic matters, juvenile court, and criminal proceedings.. Early in her career, Sarah worked for Utah Legal Services handling Protective Order proceedings and family law cases. Sarah then spent time in the City’s of South Salt Lake and Salt Lake as a criminal prosecutor. Sarah worked on various cases dealing with drugs, DUI’s and domestic violence. Sarah learned negotiation techniques and developed litigation experience by taking many cases to jury trial.. She left the city prosecutor’s office in 2005 and joined the law firm of Lokken & Associates. This firm administered the parental defense contract for Salt Lake County. While with this office, Sarah practiced in the juvenile court representing parents who were going through abuse/neglect/and dependency cases with the Division of Child and Family Services and the Attorney General’s Office. She became familiar with the various agencies and services available to individuals in challenging situations.. After working for Lokken & Associates, Sarah moved to the law firm formerly known as Corporon & Williams. Her practice continued to focus on criminal matters and family matters. Sarah opened her own office in 2011 and has continued to grow her practice while focusing on client relations and case management. She and her office pride themselves on being effective negotiators and litigators while keeping costs in mind and efficient case resolution. I work extensively in Family Law, including domestic violence restraining orders.  I have litigated numerous cases involving all aspects of divorce, custody, support, division of property and separation.. I began my career outside of law by working as a mechanical engineer followed by 12 years in the finance industry working as a trading specialist researching and preparing firms for trade disputes and mediation.  I used my years of detailed work experience in pressure filled environments to better suit the demands of my clients regarding court hearings, trials and mediation by shielding the clients from stress.. My method is to hear your problems and issues and then outline them for both of us in deciding the course of action we will be taking.  To best serve the client and case, I do my best to give an open and honest assessment of the situation especially if the tough answer isn't one the client wants to hear.

I have dedicated my practice to assisting families going through a divorce or separation or resolving custody issues.  I am Board Certified in Marital and Family law .   I handle every aspect of a divorce, whether it be developing a parenting plan, assisting in valuing and dividing a closely held business, distributing a pension or retirement benefit, or dividing a home.  In addition,  I strive to resolve all issues involving alimony and child support. In addition, I handle paternity cases to assist in the development of an appropriate parenting plan.
