Ryan joined the firm as a law clerk while still in law school. Following his graduation from the University of St. Thomas School of Law, Ryan began representing clients in both family law and general civil litigation matters. Today, Ryan continues to devote much of his practice to assisting clients with family law matters. He also serves as an assistant city attorney for a number of south metro municipalities. Ryan's municipal law practice includes representing municipalities in both criminal prosecution and civil matters.

For over the last 26 years, I have practiced extensively in all areas of family law including divorce, complex asset and debt division, child custody, parenting time, support, spousal maintenance, and paternity.  I am licensed in the State of Minnesota and Federal Court.  I believe in thorough preparation for my cases and active involvement with my clients.  I am a strong advocate for my client’s position.  I am also a member of the Dakota County Bar Associations.  I have volunteered with several organizations, including the Tubman/Chrysalis Center and the Ramsey County Volunteer Mediation Program.  I have over twenty-four years of litigation and alternative dispute resolution experience.  I am also a mediator and Qualified Neutral under Rule 114 of the Minnesota General Rules of Practice and am also on the provider list of the Ramsey County Financial Early Neutral Evaluation Panel.

I have been licensed as an attorney since 1980 and founded Tentinger Law Firm in 1997. I am admitted to practice before the state and federal district courts of Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska. I have been a public defender, assistant attorney general for the State of Iowa, and also worked for several insurance companies. I am experienced in family law, including adoptions, child custody and child support, divorce (dissolution), legal separation, parenting/ visitation, spousal maintenance (alimony) and pre-nuptial agreements. I am a member of the Minnesota, Iowa, and Nebraska State Bar Associations and a no-fault arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association.. When representing clients, I listen to the facts of their case and advise and counsel them on how the law applies to their issue(s). I then proceed to work on the case to obtain the best results for the client based on the facts and the law. I have many years of litigation and appeals experience to handle small cases all the way up to complex litigation.. I am very active in my community, as an appointed commissioner for the Port Authority of Rosemount from 2003 to 2011. Prior to that appointment, I was a planning commissioner from 1994 to 2000. I am an active member of the Knights of Columbus, donating my time to charitable events that organization helps support.

I have resided in Dakota County with my family since 2003.  I am an Assistant City of Apple Valley Attorney working extensively in criminal prosecution matters. I represent the City of Apple Valley in criminal court on a weekly basis.  I have represented the City in many jury trials, have drafted several Memoranda to the Court of Appeals, and has argued many cases to the Court of Appeals on behalf of the City of Apple Valley.. I also work in the private sector in family law. In my family law practice, I represent clients in marriage dissolutions, custody proceedings, child support proceedings, adoptions property division, paternity matters and spousal maintenance proceedings.. When I am not practicing law, I enjoy coaching my two children's athletic teams.

I began working with family law clients while attending law school almost 30 years ago. Spurred by a love of the TV. show Law & Order, as well as arguing for what’s right, I later attended Hamline University School of Law, where I graduated with a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) in 2012.
