As a third-generation lawyer, I am a passionate advocate for the legal rights and personal well-being of his clients.  As an active member of the Washington State Bar Association, United States District Court-Western District of Washington, U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, and Washington State Association for Justice, my focused objective is to find the best remedy within the law for each case. As a civil trial lawyer, I represent corporate, public  and  individual clients in a broad range of matters, including cases involving complex business disputes, fraud, employment and personal injury. I also serve as an arbitrator and mediator.. Before joining Dearmin Fogarty PLLC, I was a Lead Attorney at the Safeco Seattle Legal Department where I was staff counsel from 2001–2008. At Safeco, I defended a wide variety of claims, including wrongful death, professional negligence, products liability, admiralty, underinsured/uninsured motorist claims and cases where a reservation of rights had been issued to the client by its insurance company.  I have also practiced as a commercial litigator with Riddell Williams and Williams Kastner.. With my broad range of experience, I am able to quickly analyze the matter at hand and work with our client to develop and implement an effective litgation strategy, regardless of the size of the matter. I am dedicated to zealously advocating on behalf of our clients, while striving to to treat the courts, its staff, opposing counsel and their staff respectfully and professionally.. I enjoy cooking, eating, entertaining, travel, photography, reading, hiking, and, last, but not least, hanging with our two pooches.

Mike is a Seattle native and graduated from Franklin High School.  He attended Yale College and graduated magna cum laude in History.  At Yale, Mike won a fellowship from the Yale-China Association, allowing him to spend two years studying Chinese and teaching in China. After returning from China, Mike attended the University of Washington School of Law where he was the President of the Moot Court Honor Board. Following law school, Mike became a third-generation trial lawyer.  Both his father and grandfather were Seattle lawyers.  Mike has had a successful career to date including numerous multi-million dollar jury verdicts for injured clients.  Mike has received many accolades for his work, including: named one of the top 40 personal injury attorneys, and one of the top 100 attorneys overall, in the State of Washington by Washington Law & Politics; inducted into the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA); invited to join the Damage Attorney's Round Table (DART); and named Mentor of the Year by the Young Lawyers Division of the WSBA. Since his days in China, Mike has continued his teaching career as a trial advocacy instructor at the UW Law School and regularly teaches at legal seminars. In 2012, he received one of the highest awards given by the UW School of Law, the Service Recognition Award. Mike has been an active member of his community as well.
