Lyle is a magnacum laude graduate of Cumberland School of Law, Samford University whereshe was also copy editor of the Cumberland Law Review.  Prior to law school, Lyle graduatedfrom Furman University and thereafter obtained a paralegal certificate from TheNational Center for Paralegal Training. As the daughter of renowned trial attorneys Marynell Maloney and Michael Maloney, and granddaughter of celebrated trial attorney, Pat Maloney, Sr., there is a longstanding joke that Erica has been programmed since birth to be a trial lawyer. Benjamin T. Ikuta is an attorney who joined Hodes Milman Liebeck, LLP in 2016.  Ben focuses on nursing home negligence, elder abuse, personal injury and product liability.  For eight years prior to working at Hodes Milman Liebeck, LLP, Ben worked for firms that primarily focused on defending skilled nursing facilities, residential care facilities for the elderly, hospitals, physicians, and nurses. He defended elder abuse, malpractice, and employment-related actions.. In October of 2012, Ben was the second-chair for a trial in defending a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (“RCFE”) in an elder abuse case.  The RCFE had served grade D commercial steak to its residents.  After an 85-year old resident choked on the meat, the staff at the RCFE failed to call for the paramedics for approximately 20 minutes, resulting in the elder’s death.  After a 6-week trial, where Ben cross-examined the elder’s family, the meat manufacturers and distributers, and an expert doctor, the jury returned a unanimous verdict in favor of Ben’s client.  In another case, Ben defended a registered nurse accused of sexual misconduct in an administrative hearing and received a favorable result of probation.  As a defense lawyer prior to joining Hodes Milman Liebeck, LLP, Ben routinely secured judgments in favor of healthcare providers and insurance companies.. December 5, 2017 - $3,000,000 settlement of a baby who was brain damaged at a hospital after a NICU nurse failed to recognize the symptoms of a bacterial infection.. November 21, 2017 - $137,500 result against an HMO due to the failure to diagnose skin cancer, resulting in an unsightly excision.. November 6, 2017 - $195,000 resolution involving a slip and fall at a Skilled Nursing Facility, resulting in a broken femur.. July 26, 2017 – Trial court award of full ownership of an Orange County home.  Ben’s client was both the defendant and cross-plaintiff in a countersuit involving the purchase of a house in Orange County.  Ben prevailed at a bench trial, obtaining not only a defense award but also prevailed on the cross-complaint for full ownership of the home.. February 2, 2017: $150,000 recovery in a failure to identify breast cancer in a mammogram against a radiologist.  The case settled after Ben prevailed after the first part of a two-part trial as to whether his client’s case was timely filed.

I am local to the High Desert, am actively involved in our legal community and I care about our community.  Get the local team advantage with me, an experienced attorney who is familiar with the local courts,as I appear almost daily in the Victorville Family Law courtrooms.. My office is located in Victorville, California and I limit my case load so that I can provide personal service to my clients.  I pride myself on the fact that my direct email address is located on my business card so that my clients can contact me directly.  Additionally, it is my stated policy that any client who wishes to speak to me directly at any time may do so. It is typical practice for me to meet with my clients prior to scheduled hearings so that I am up to date on thier situation.. I am thankful that I have very rare employee turnover because I treat my employees well and they enjoy working for me.  The result is a seasoned staff who have great experience and pay attention to detail like I do.. When it comes time for the State Bar review of my Minimum Continuing Legal Education (MCLE), I typically have two to three times more than is required.  Every four years (over the last eight years), I have taken a seven-day advanced family law course which very few of my colleagues have done.  I believe very strongly that keeping up on the broadest and most difficult area of law is critical, especially with the constant changes in the laws.. I have been minor's counsel wherein the court thinks highly enough of me to appoint me to represent minor children in over sixty cases since my first appointment in 2002.  Additionally, since I have strong gratitude to those serving our country in the military, I offer reduced rates to our active servicemembers.. Finally, I have been nominated by the High Desert Bar Association to serve next year as the Liaison who works in connection with the San Bernardino County Bar Association.  One of my strong concerns at this time is that our County lacks in much needed court resources and our County's courts have less funds to operate off of than other counties.  In the current bugdet crisis our State faces, our County has suffered more significantly than others.  This causes my clients delays in getting to court.  I am working to try to fight this inequality because our comminity and my clients deserve better.
