Location: New York. Hello everyone, I have an ongoing criminal case currently and recently it has been another court date for me. I’m a college student and will be going back to school very soon, my next court date is during my school time. At my most recent court date, I asked my public defender if I’ll have to be there with them next time. They said if there is any difficulty with time to contact them, I told them that in earlier times when I tried to contact them through phone calls I didn’t receive any response, then they told me to contact them through texting. As soon as I checked on my schedule, I texted them in terms of messaging the phone number they left on their card that I wouldn’t be able to attend my next court date due to school reasons. It has been a day or two, and I haven’t gotten any responses back yet. They left two numbers, one for office and one for cell, in case, I messaged both. The message to the cell is colored blue and tells me that my message is delivered but not read yet. The office message is shown as green and doesn’t show whether or not it’s read or not. Is there anything I should do as of now or anything I could do? My next court date is approximately half a month from now.
