Location: Minnesota. Anoka County. City: Coon Rapids. I was rear ended in a construction zone. Other party had no insurance, expired registration, not their vehicle, no drivers license. Vehicle was deemed total loss. My insurance covered my loss minus my $1000 deductible. 3 year old EV. Insurance payout was fair. I was not injured. I did not miss work. No rental vehicle as I had access to a second vehicle. Do I claim my deductible only? How does this work? Did I receive this due to criminal charges were made against the other driver? Offense Date: Thursday, May 21, 2026 Charge Type: Traffic-Drivers License-Driving After Cancellation Case Number: Court Date/Time: September 10, 2026; 1:15 pm Dear : This letter is to inform you that you have been identified as a victim in the above-named criminal case. The next hearing in this matter is a pre-trial hearing scheduled on the date and time listed above at the Anoka County Courthouse. The purpose of the pre-trial hearing is so that legal issues can be determined prior to trial. It is also an opportunity to discuss a resolution to the case. If the case does not resolve at that time, a trial date is usually set. As a victim of a crime, you have certain rights that are outlined in the enclosed brochure, which include providing input on the outcome of the case. You have a right to attend the court proceedings, however, you are not required to do so unless you have received a subpoena, which is a court order requiring you to attend. One of your rights as a crime victim is the right to request restitution for any monetary loss you may have incurred as a result of the crime. In the event the defendant enters a guilty plea or is found guilty of the crime, the judge may order the defendant to pay restitution to you as part of defendant’s sentence. If you want to request restitution, you must complete the enclosed Affidavit of Restitution and include supporting documentation for the amount(s) requested. Examples of supporting documentation include: proof of auto insurance deductible, medical bills, repair or replacement receipts, insurance claim forms, etc. Your request may not be approved if you fail to provide supporting documentation for all items listed. If you do not have supporting documentation, please include a letter explaining how the amount of loss was determined. If we have not received the completed affidavit within two weeks of the date of this letter, or you have not contacted us to ask for additional time to complete the form, we will presume that you have no restitution claim and will not request any from the court. You are encouraged to submit a claim to your own insurance (automotive, home, medical) in case defendant is not found guilty of the crime.
