Changing the gender marker on an out-of-state birth certificate?

Location: Illinois I (23, transgender FtM) was born in Indiana, and very recently moved to Illinois. About a year ago, Mike Braun (a state senator for IN) made it illegal to change the gender marker on one's birth certificate. In Illinois, though, it's very much legal to do so. From my understanding, changes to a birth certificate have to go through the jurisdictions of the place in which you were born (aka I wouldn't be able to change my marker since I was born in Indiana). Is this the end-all-be-all? Because I've also seen mentions of being able to file a gender marker change even if you're out-of-state (it just seems like it's more complicated in that scenario). Basically I just want to know if it's at all possible for me to change my marker (even if that means I have to go through a bunch of hoops), or if I'm just screwed. If I can change it, how do I go about doing so? Will it be a major headache to deal with? How long might it take? This is kinda a big deal for me personally, mostly because I really hoped my marriage (I plan to get married next year) would be seen as same-sex in the eyes of the law, & yes I know I don't need the law to "validate" my gender, but it hurts to think that (legally speaking) I'll forever be seen as female. (Unless the law in IN changes at some point, but considering it's a red state, I doubt it.) (Just to be clear, I'm yet to legally change my name -- though I do plan on that -- but I have changed the gender marker on my IL state license/ID since my move. Not sure if this impacts anything but I wanted to establish that just in case.)
