Advice on contract
Contract New York Jul 24, 2026
Location: New York I signed a contract with a company based in LA for mentorship and brand development help. I was told that there was a one time fee of $5k. I reviewed the contract again today as I believe I may have misinterpreted it. For context I just was accepted yesterday and was immediately moved to payment process after acceptance. I've pasted below. 1.3 Term: The Term of this Agreement will commence upon YOUR acceptance of this Agreement and payment of the applicable Program Fee. YOU agree and understand that upon commencement of the Term of this Agreement, you will become a mentee of "company X". 2. PAYMENT TERMS 2.1 Service Fee: By accepting the terms of this Agreement, YOU agree and understand that you are committing to pay company X a Total Program Fee of: $4000 2.2 Payment Structure: Upfront Amount: 5000 Remaining Balance: All remaining payments must be completed within the next 180 days from the date of this Agreement. 2.3 Payment Obligations: If you submit a dispute or fail to complete payment on time, you will be immediately removed from the program. By the terms of this agreement, company X has all of the evidence to fight disputes and will win the case. The Client is required to pay off the payment plan on time or legal action will take place from Urban Unity through collections. All payments must be satisfied within the 180-day period specified above. 3. PROGRAM DURATION AND NO REFUND POLICY 3.1 Program Duration: Upon enrolling into the program, YOU will receive 6 months of coaching (24 weeks) in addition to the instruction found inside the program. Company X will provide step-by-step video lessons and a coaching service through weekly calls/community group, which is a 180-day consulting program. 3.2 No Refunds Policy: company X abides by a strict no refund policy. All payments are final and non-refundable under any circumstances. It would not be fair to our team if we coached you for hours and gave you placement only for you to ask for a refund. Additionally, having a mindset of asking for a refund means that you will always give yourself an easy way out, and you will not be held accountable to actually follow through on your business venture. By mentally accepting that there is a refund, you'll back out as soon as the going gets tough because you know there is always an easy way out to quit. Because we don't want you to quit on yourself, we have implemented this policy. Therefore, please understand that this no refund policy and guidance to get results coaching is implemented IN YOUR FAVOR to help you succeed. I'm withdrawing from the program but was wondering if i am still reponsible for that $4k if it is in fact a separate fee.
