Ending a civil union in another state

Location: Arizona I got a civil union in Illinois but now we live in Arizona and I've realized this relationship is no longer serving me. He and I have one child together and we're on Medicaid and food stamps together. At minimum I want split custody. I have no interest in trying to salvage the relationship. What do I have to do to make as clean of a break as possible?
