Landlord left furniture behind - Florida

Location: Florida - We started renting a house a few weeks ago and the landlord left furniture in the house. We have a signed lease. He said some of it we could just throw out and we did but he wanted to come pick up one of the items. I have held onto it for a few weeks now and he keeps saying he is coming for it and doesn't. My question is legally can I put this item on the curb? It's not my item but its in the house I'm renting and we don't want it. I won't do this without warning him ahead of time, but it'll be in the way soon as we're having new furniture delivered soon. Thanks!
