Landlord wants us to be responsible for trees

In my lease agreement it says “resident shall maintain his/her own yard, shrubbery and trees.” One year while we were here, the power line was ripped off the house because a storm came through and destroyed a bunch of trees in the neighborhood, ours included. A limb fell (alive, not dead) and pulled it from the house. It cost my landlords about $4,000 to replace everything and they told me that if it happened again, I would have to pay to replace it. I don’t see how that falls into my agreement as it specifically says “maintain” and maintenance has nothing to do with a storm out of my control and to me, maintain means to keep in the same condition as when we moved in. We pay a fair price here so I didn’t really say anything. It’s a few years later and the tree is old and has some faulty limbs, non that are on the side with the power line. But I need to know- am I responsible if another storm comes through and knocks the power line out again? I just don’t see how that seems like my responsibility since it’s structural to the home.
