NRECA and divorce

As the name suggests, this is a throw away account. My ex uses reddit so I'll be providing scant details. Location: Mississippi Our divorce was final last year, and per the agreement I am awarded a settlement. That settlement is my ex's 401k with NRECA... The divorce paperwork states that it (the 401k) was to be liquidated and given to me within 30 days of the judge signing papers, but that didn't happen. We're a year post divorce and still dealing with this - although some of the delay was due to my ex dragging their feet, it seems that now the hold up is either their lawyer being lazy or NRECA taking their time. So here's my legal questions. Should I just get a lawyer myself and have them take over the paperwork? Will that speed this up, or slow it down? What laws are in place making NRECA be so particular about the wording of the paperwork, which is dragging this process out longer than I believe to be necessary? According to my ex (and I have been fwd'ed some emails) it is NRECA that is causing the prolonged nature of this absolution. Basically nitpicking over legalese and making sure every fucking fine point is pointed at and tied up. I also learned that the account has to be transfered to me before it can be cashed out--I won't incur certain taxes on the cash amount due to this being a settlement agreement. Should I just go get my own lawyer, paying them 3k that I don't really have to spare, in order for them to take over this paperwork or is it normal for this to take months? I feel like I am getting jerked around, and am genuinly afraid I will never see a dime of this money.
