Location: Alaska, USA We bought in a new build in 2022 and we were told there might be an HOA and we could elect to not be included if we weren’t interested. Fast forward 3 years, and there is an HOA enacted without anyone’s notice. The legalese made it so the developer could enact the HOA without anyone’s knowledge or input. MOST of us were told something along the lines of no HOA and the agents are still saying no HOA. I’m on the board and the president is abusive - personally threatening me if I don’t get in line. We live in an area with a lot of natural wild flowers, and we have let it grow - in our back yard only - for our kids to play in. Plus, it’s good for our garden to have the pollinators. Someone flew a drone over all the houses and they are fining everyone with anything but a grass backyard, and I’m being hit with threats of removal and him coming onto my property if I’m not compliant. This is a guy who said he was the anti-HOa guy and said he wouldn’t become the guy who measured grass heights… now he’s in a fit over 3” grass. My question is, because of the misrepresentation when we bought, because we didn’t have inform consent and personally wouldn’t have bought here if we knew what was coming, what is the best step?
