I offer something other "mega" firms cannot-personal contact with your lawyer and the kind of listening and interaction that lead to better results.. I do not just "work your file" to leave you with huge legal bills and no clue about the process or your rights.. I sincerely want to deliver to you quality legal representation you can afford. Many of my clients are amazed at the amount of access they have to me throughout the representation. I believe this personal touch is absolutely necessary to getting you the best results I can for a reasonable fee.. My approach is not for everyone...if you want someone to be less than truthful with you about your situation and possible outcomes, someone to just make it "feel better" I urge you to consider what is best for you. I am a straight-shooter and I treat my clients with respect and compassion, but I treat them as equals in the process.. If you are tired of the run around and seemingly endless hold-ups of the legal process, CALL ME TODAY AND GET SOMETHING DONE.

My firm focuses on two areas of law that sadly often intersect - bankruptcy and divorce. The issues which arise during the separation of a couple oftentimes is financial. Our family law court system is geared towards the division of assets and making sure the spouses are being supported through spousal support, and child support.. Having experienced the divorce of my own parents, I understand the emotional turmoil that separation causes. My approach is oftentimes collaborative, seeking to bring both parties to the table to work out an agreement which is beneficial to both. Our court system is adversarial, and some family lawyers think that when one person wins, the other person must lose. However, it is my strong belief that it's possible that we can have win-win situations.. That being said, I am a zealous advocate when necessary, and will help you get the results that you want when there is a lot of dishonesty or distrust going on. I have several years of experience in both family law and bankruptcy, and have handled hundreds of cases.

One of my passions is for the earth's ecosystems. I went to UC Berkeley as an undergraduate and graduated with a BS in Environmental Science. Before going to law school I worked for the City of Concord for a few years doing environmental planning. I learned to draft blueprints and made maps of local flood plains, earthquake areas, waterways, the water district, waste management, electrical power and streets. I loved the job. My mom kept pushing me to go to Law School because no one else in my large extended family was a lawyer- that's 14 aunts and uncles and 60 first cousins.. After law school I worked at a firm doing family law, which I loved. I had studied family law under Professor Justice Donald King, who is often referred to as the father of modern California family law. I was eventually recruited to work for a management consulting firm where I stayed for 20 years. They paid for me to get my LL.M. in taxation. This is a post-doctorate degree. I found I loved taxes. We advised management for Fortune 100 public corporationson about the federal tax compliance of their retirement trusts.. The consulting firm in which I was a partner eventually went public. Anyone shareholder over age 52 was offered a severance package and a large lum sum. I decided to take the package. This turned out to be a godsend because my only sister, Jennie, had had a recurrence of breast cancer. Because I had the time, I was able to help care for my sister and spend time with her until she died at age 60. I still miss her every day. The time I spent with her was the greatest blessing I ever received.. I was able to not work for 3 years. During that time I got a master's degree in Environmental Science. I worked for 4 years for the Delta Vision Foundation doing legislative analysis of the implementation of the 2009 Great California Delta Water Act. It was a wonderful experience.. About 10 years ago I started my own law practice--just after Jennie died. I was able to use my knowledge and experience in family law matters and testamentary trusts. I decided to focuse on these two areas eventually expanding to wills and trust, probate and trust administration for individuals.. I am a volunteer park ranger for the Mt. Diablo State Park. After training I receive a real authentic part vest and a hat, both of which I am extremely proud of. I am a "rover" meaning I hike the trails and help visitors with questions and problems. I also volunteered to do environmental education activities.. Personally, I have a wonderful husband who is a retired Vet and retiree deputy police chief. We have 2 kids, both of whom are out of the house--mostly. We have a 90 pound white goldendoodle named Romeo, who is serving as a replacement for the kids.

I am dedicated to fostering respectful, solution-oriented approaches to family law, while always keeping the goals and needs of my clients at the forefront of my work. Understanding how difficult and sometimes traumatic the transitions can be for individuals going through divorce or custody matters, I strive to empower my clients through education, understanding, and compassionate representation.. My passion for supporting clients in transition stems from my early experiences as an undergraduate at University of Chicago and law school student at UCLA School of Law. During this time, I represented parents in the child welfare system, where I provided parents with support and resources needed to reunite them with their children. In law school, I also represented detained clients with mental illnesses in asylum proceedings, which strengthened my advocacy skills and commitment to supporting vulnerable populations. After graduating from law school, I continued to engage in family advocacy through my policy work at Planned Parenthood.. I have training in domestic violence counseling, which guides the way I support clients who have experienced domestic violence. I also have training in mediation and collaborative divorce as I resolutely believe in the power of conflict resolution through a more peaceful, amicable process when possible. I currently serve on the board of the Collaborative Practice Group, Golden Gate, and am an active member of the Divorce Options Committee, dedicated to developing trainings that educate the community about how to navigate the divorce process. I am also a member of the Collaborative Practice Group of San Mateo County.

Robert (“Bobby”) Cashen is a partner at Morgan Tidalgo Sukhodrev & Azzolino LLP. Mr. Cashen has been named a Super Lawyer’s Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine in both 2018 and 2019, an award conferred upon the top 2.5% up and rising attorneys in California. He currently serves as the co-chair of the Family Law Section of the San Mateo County Bar Association and will serve as its chair in 2020.. Mr. Cashen has exclusively practiced family law throughout his career. He is a skilled advocate, assisting clients both as a consultant in mediation and settlement, as well as providing with clients vigorous representation in contested litigation cases at law and motion hearings and trials.. Mr. Cashen assists clients with all aspects of family law matters. He is experienced with complex financial issues, such as business valuation and characterization, private equity, venture capital, and equity compensation, and is adept at untangling these complicated matters in the context of family law cases. These complex issues often have a large impact on child and spousal support, property division, separate property claims, and on claims for breaches of fiduciary duties. Such matters often require the involvement of other professionals in the case, including forensic accountants, tax and corporate counsel, and other financial experts. In these cases, Mr. Cashen builds a team to provide clients with the best representation and counsel necessary to make informed decisions in both settlement and litigation settings.. Mr. Cashen brings a compassionate approach to child custody and visitation matters, an aspect of family law practice that can be most challenging for families. He handles high and low conflict custody matters, move-away requests, cases involving parental alienation, and paternity actions. These cases often require the involvement of mental health professionals to assist the parties and the Court in determining what courses of action are in a child’s best interests. Mr. Cashen works closely with these mental health professionals and clients to ensure their families get through the difficulty of a dissolution with their children’s best interests as the highest priority.. Premarital and postmarital agreements have become commonplace in the family law realm and Mr. Cashen has experience both drafting these agreements, as well as challenging or defending them in enforcement proceedings.. Mr. Cashen graduated from the University of California, Hastings College of the law. While in law school, Bobby received various awards for his writing and oral advocacy, including the second best oralist award at the National Criminal Procedure Moot Court Competition, the CALI Excellence for the Future Award and Witkin Award in Academic Excellence in Professional Responsibility. He also served as a Teaching Assistant in both the first year Moot Court and second year Appellate Advocacy classes, and served on the Moot Court Board. He continues to volunteer for the Moot Court program at Hastings.. Mr. Cashen is an avid golfer and skier and prefers to spend his free time with his family in the outdoors.

I practice family law because I am dedicated to helping clients protect what matters most — their families and their financial well-being. I see my role as a supportive ally, guiding clients through the legal process with clarity and compassion.. I am a strong proponent of negotiated settlements to achieve the best possible outcomes in family law matters. When settlement is not possible, I am courtroom-ready and experienced in advocating for my clients’ rights. I approach each case as unique, favoring carefully tailored strategies to best protect and advance my clients’ interests.. I am active in the Contra Costa County Bar Association and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. I also volunteer with The Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County and Legal Access Alameda.. Representative Matters:• Secured favorable custody rulings in two domestic violence restraining order cases by uncovering fabricated evidence, including falsified text messages and a fraudulent negative drug test.• Successfully opposed a motion for a substantial increase in child support obligations, prevailing based on case law limiting retroactive application of the court’s order.
