Firm: Mayer & Harper
Practice Areas: Administrative Law
Allen Lightcap focuses his practice on preparing for and taking cases to trial. As Randy Mayer and Mark Harper have taught him over the years, the best way to practice law is to know your case better than anyone else. Allen prepares every case as if he will be presenting it to a judge or jury, which adds tremendous value whether in settlement negotiations or at trial.. Prior to joining Mayer & Harper, Allen served as Assistant Attorney General under Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens. In that capacity, he represented the Professional Standards Commission against numerous teachers implicated in the Atlanta Public Schools CRCT cheating scandal. He also defended a class action lawsuit filed against Governor Nathan Deal and the Public Defender Standards Council, asserting widespread claims of ineffective assistance of counsel in a rural Georgia judicial circuit. He represented the Office of Bar Admissions and Board to Determine Fitness of Bar Applicants and successfully represented numerous superior court judges who were sued in their judicial capacities.
