Location: Georgia, US I was renting a storage unit in my complex in Georgia. A few years ago I changed apartments in the complex, but the complex did not associate the storage unit to my new apartment number. About 6mo ago they completed an audit and cleaned the unit out without giving me any notice at all. I have written confirmation of this. What can I claim in compensation from the complex (national chain)? Luckily, it was all stuff that is replaceable and nothing sentimental or too high value.

Location: Rhode Island. I live in Rhode Island and have lived in my roommate Sarah's house since the end of July 2025. She owns the house and gave me permission to live there. I have never had a written lease and don't pay traditional rent, but I have my own room, all my belongings are there, I receive mail there, and I've used the address for doctors and other official records. Originally, my stay was supposed to be temporary while I found income and somewhere else to live, but I ended up staying for over a year. About 2 months ago, I was verbally given 30 days to improve with chores. I did chores for 1–2 weeks, then had surgery on July 2 and couldn't physically do them during recovery. They knew about my surgery. I was cleared August 7. Now Mike, Sarah's boyfriend, has verbally told me I have 2 weeks, and then 1 week, to leave. I have received no written notice, court papers, or anything from a lawyer/court. I'm actively trying to move to Georgia with my boyfriend and we're looking for an apartment, but I realistically may not be able to secure housing within one week. Do I have any right to 30 days written notice? Can they legally make me leave in one week based only on a verbal demand? Location: Georgia, USA Hello, I just recently moved into a new apartment. When I originally looked around the apartment it looked fine, so I signed the lease. However, on my first official day of moving, I found about three baby roaches in a closet. So I walked around & found one crawling behind the refrigerator, and another one in the bathtub. I told management, and they said they would ask the pest control guy to clean my apartment this Wednesday, but she gave me a tube of roach killer to apply around the apt until then. That’s when I realized the extent of the problem. The morning after I applied the pesticide, I come back to see 30 dead roaches on the floor. There’s some crawling in the carpet. One on the ceiling. I apply some more that same day, and later find there’s another 15 or so dead, more crawling around the ceiling, one dead in the refrigerator, and one crawling around the kitchen sink. I signed my lease less than a week ago, but even with the cleaning they may do to my apartment I don’t think I’ll ever feel comfortable staying here. I sent the leasing office photos and an email stating that I wasn’t comfortable staying the night until after pest control visits. Location: Winder,Georgia vacated property on 6/25. LL refused exit walkthrough. LL goes to property on 6/28 saying there is STANDING water, house is flooded, floors are buckled. We finally got a letter from her on 8/05 stating we caused over $6k worth of damage. I have messages from 8/14/2025, 2/20/2026, 5/28/2026 documenting water/plumbing issues, some of which were never resolved. The last issue on 5/28/26 was our gravel driveway was flooded, which turned out to be the toilet constantly running which overflowed the septic. Nothing inside the property to know the toilet had a leak/flow issue? Her exact words “plumbing leak diagnosis and toilet adjustment after county water interruption” She provided no receipts only a table of charges her exact words below: $1,800 for septic pumping due to improper use $427 water bill resulting from interruptions $1,874 to fix holes in walls and doors just seems flat out insane … the house isn’t even 1000sqft 2b1b $662 removal and replacement of damaged flooring $275 repair of outdoor hose faucet and wall damage (issue with hose faucet flooding the bathroom on 2/20/26 that was never resolved) $320 for removal of excess weeds (Other few small things we actually did damage) Looking for advice on smalls claims process in Georgia? Location: Georgia, USA My sister rented a basement apartment. Four months into her year long lease she complained to me that mold was growing on her belongings and she was trying to find a new place. She has bad credit and was scared once she tells her landlord about the mold they would tell her to leave and she had no where to go. So she stayed while looking a place and didn’t notify them. Her lease didn’t mention needing a dehumidifier, which is often needed in basements. She said she had health issues and bought one of those Petri dish mold kits which of course would grow mold. Once she secured a place to live she wrote the landlord an email stating that she has mold and health issues and she is terminating her lease. She moved out days later and the landlord sent her a follow up stating they are keeping her security deposit because she broke the lease, billed her $1000 in cleaning fees (this was in the lease) and other damage fees and stated that there is no evidence of mold in the apartment. Now she is looking to sue them because she had health issues. I told her she can’t sue them for mold issues when she only notified them upon terminating the lease giving them no chance to fix the matter. Her argument is that they did nothing after she told them, but her email was also terminating her lease so I am not…
