John Shine has practiced exclusively in the field of immigration law since 2005. He was born in Dublin, Ireland, and was raised in Chicago. He practiced in downtown Chicago for 8 years and is now located in Brookfield, Illinois. His practice focuses on deportation defense, family-based visas, waivers, deferred action for children and parents, U visas, VAWA, naturalization, and appeals. He was named a Super Lawyer in Immigration by Super Lawyers Magazine in 2016. He previously was named a Rising Star in Immigration by Super Lawyers Magazine in 2013 and 2014. John has worked pro bono with the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services (CVLS), and has spoken at many seminars for attorneys and organizations. John speaks Spanish and has a large Hispanic clientele. While in law school, he completed an internship with the Department of Homeland Security Office of the Chief Counsel in Chicago. John graduated cum laude from the University of Chicago with a degree in Philosophy in 2000 and received his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2005.
