Laura M. Longstreet is a Hoosier native and has worked in the legal profession for over ten years.  Ms. Longstreet attended Siena Heights University in Benton Harbor, Michigan and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Community Service.  Afterwards, she served as a Juvenile Probation Officer in Marion County, Indiana for over two years, working within the MSD of Perry Township.  She graduated with a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, Indianapolis, Indiana.  While in law school, Ms. Longstreet clerked for the St. Joseph County Superior Court and the Indiana Court of Appeals and served as a certified legal intern for the Law Office of Kenneth L. Riggins.  Prior to opening her own law practice, Ms. Longstreet worked as an attorney in both Marion County, and Saint Joseph County, Indiana.  Ms. Longstreet is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana, the Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and was recently admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of the United States.  She is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association and the St. Joseph County Bar Association.  Ms. Longstreet volunteered with Chet Waggoner Little League and the St. Joseph County Humane Society. I am a life long resident of Indiana. After graduating from St. Joseph High School in South Bend, I went on to attend Northwestern University where I played football and received my B.A. in Political Science. From there, I received my law degree from Valparaiso University.. I have served on the board of governors for the St. Joseph County Bar Association since 1995 and was President from September 2001 to June 2003. I have served as the Attorney for the St. Joseph County Solid Waste Management District,  where I helped implement a county wide recycling program. I am a member of the Family Law Section of the American Bar Association and the Indiana State Bar Association. I am also a Certified Family Law Specialist – Family Law Certification Board and a Registered Domestic Relations Mediator. I have accomplished what many believed to be the impossible - I graduated law school summa cum laude while working part-time and being a wife and mother. By working prior to attending law school, I gained experience in both life and the workforce.  As a result, I have insight into people's needs and desires more so than had I graduated high school, attended college, and attended law school. While I was content and worked hard, I always wanted to be a lawyer and have a special interest in family law and fathers' rights. So I made the decision and went law school.. In addition to a job as a law clerk and caring for my children, I was also a member of law review and moot court. More importantly though, I participated in a family law internship and worked for a law firm in which one attorney focused on family law, working along side of her gaining knowledge and experience. The other attorney had me work on debt collection defense and personal injury cases..
