Location: Maryland -Can I lose my home over this? I could really use some advice from anyone who’s dealt with an HOA, collections, or a similar situation. Unfortunately, I bought my townhouse in an HOA community. I wasn’t paying my HOA dues because I mistakenly believed they were included in my monthly mortgage payment. I know now that was my mistake, and I’m trying to make things right. The HOA turned my account over to a law firm for collections. The total balance was $3,523.73. They wanted me to pay all of the past-due balance, along with my ongoing monthly dues, over roughly three months. There’s just no way I can afford that while also paying my mortgage and my other monthly expenses. To show I was acting in good faith, I made a payment of $1,169.93 on July 15. After that, I emailed the attorney explaining that I’m the only income in my household and asked for a more manageable payment plan. I proposed paying the remaining $2,353.94 over six monthly payments of $392.32, then resuming my normal monthly HOA dues once I was caught up. The HOA and law firm has not responded, but I’m concerned about some of the terms. It says that if I default, they can record a lien against my property without additional notice, that my payments are applied to new assessments before the arrears, and that the agreement doesn’t stop any post-judgment collection that may already have been started. Location: Maryland last year some roommates and i signed a lease for a property, we requested a one year lease and jumped through all the neccesary hoops to get everything in place, we moved in on aug 1st and assumed the lease would last for one calander year Fast forward to this past week when we go to vacate the property that the landlord says were still responsible for another month of rent because we didnt notify them three months prior that we were vacating. (one of my roommates let them know we wouldnt be renewing on may 20th) We look back in the lease and find a clause that requires either party to notify the other if the lease will not be renewed, requiring 90days notice, this was not explained to us and never mentioned, we never thought to ask becuase we only wanted a one year lease! My question is, do i have any recourse here or am i in the wrong? Ive talked to the property management company and they say were still responsible for the month of rent.

Location: Maryland Late June, I had sewage backup in my basement. I called a plumber and they did various tests and snakes to clear it, and to determine where the issue is. They determined it was a faulty pipe inside the house. $10000 later, they redid the piping inside. 2 weeks later the issue happened again with backup in the basement. The plumber mentioned that he left a towel in the piping and that was the cause of the issue and removed it. It happened once more and I called another plumbing company that mentioned it was a city pipe that was causing the issue. I called the city, and they cleared the pipe. Is there any restitution that I can get from the original plumbing company, given that they misdiagnosed the issue, did all the work that didn't fix the issue, and still charged us for everything?

Location: North Carolina My partner works for a (used to be local) residential/commercial services business that was recently bought out by a private equity group in North Carolina. Upon completion of the sale there were some changes internally, including moving all of the staff's payroll management to Paylocity. The staff is being asked to agree to Paylocity's terms of service, the first of which is that if their app is installed on their phone, allows Paylocity to collect, sell, and monitor their personal banking information. On top of this, they're being asked to sign an electronic document stating that they will not make any political contributions. At the outset, it looks as if the intention is to have the employees consent to the monitoring of their spending and retaliation if they choose to spend their personal money on political causes that don't align with the views of their new corporate owners. Location: Harford County, Maryland (DUI) Location: York, Pennsylvania (Assault) I am soliciting pure legal opinion and not personal opinion about what you may perceive to be my son’s character or morals. DUI: My son (19 yo) said he was parked irregularly (“kind of in the middle of the road”)in a neighborhood that had an officer on patrol when he spotted my son parked in a way that im assuming no sober person would on in the street. The officer approached him and came to find out there was alcohol in the vehicle and that my son seemed to be intoxicated. There, he received the DUI.
