Location: Maryland I work in Maryland and I’m an at-will employee. I have a good work record and positive reviews. A complete stranger doxxed my info and called my workplace multiple times to try to get me fired. And the workplace called the police on behalf of me. I ended up going to law enforcement because I felt like I needed to protect myself and my job. I filed criminal charges against my stalker for harassment and phone misuse, and there will be a trial in a month (State of MD vs. The stalker). I was open with my employer about what was going on from the beginning. I never tried to drag my coworkers into it, but the State later subpoenaed a couple of them as witnesses. Management seemed surprised, but they said they will help. They did say they wanted to protect me. My question is: can I contact the states attorney and quash their subpoena? I know I'm the victim. But I dont want to inconvenience my coworker and get them involved any further. When i filed the complaint my list of witnesses didnt even include their names, i only put down the police officers who helped me. Furthermore, could my job choose to discipline or fire me over this? If I were later fired because I contacted law enforcement, or because my coworkers ended up getting subpoenaed, could that potentially be wrongful termination even though Maryland is an at-will state? Location: North Carolina My partner works for a (used to be local) residential/commercial services business that was recently bought out by a private equity group in North Carolina. Upon completion of the sale there were some changes internally, including moving all of the staff's payroll management to Paylocity. The staff is being asked to agree to Paylocity's terms of service, the first of which is that if their app is installed on their phone, allows Paylocity to collect, sell, and monitor their personal banking information. On top of this, they're being asked to sign an electronic document stating that they will not make any political contributions. At the outset, it looks as if the intention is to have the employees consent to the monitoring of their spending and retaliation if they choose to spend their personal money on political causes that don't align with the views of their new corporate owners. We're curious, has anyone ever seen anything like this? Is this legal? Below is a copy/paste from the political contributions form: "3.
