When choosing an attorney to represent you, it is important to work with someone who is competent, someone you can trust, and someone who cares about your needs, goals, and priorities. To me, are more than just a file: you're a person with legal needs, and I am here to help.. I am admitted to practice in the State of New Jersey, and the District of New Jersey Federal Court. I earned my law degree from Rutgers University School of Law in Newark, and am currently an active member of the American Bar Association; New Jersey Bar Association; Rutgers Young Alumni Committee; and the New York Academy of the Sciences.. Prior to forming my own practice, I worked in a real estate law firm in Hoboken, and as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Judge Peter F. Bariso, Jr., Assignment Judge of the Superior Court, in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Hudson Vicinage. I also worked as an intern for Disability Rights New Jersey, an organization that advocates for the advancement of human, civil and legal rights of citizens with disabilities, and in the Essex County Office of the Public Defender. I have the legal and professional experience to assist you with competence and professionalism.. In addition to my legal work, I am passionate about being an active member of my community. I have organized food and donation drives to raise awareness of homelessness, and participated in Newark Mayor Cory Booker's volunteer community outreach initiative. I welcome opportunities to support my community, and would love to hear from you about how I might be able to assist local organizations that serve the public, or bring awareness to important issues.. I earned my undergraduate degree from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, where I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy, concentrating on ethics and morality, as well as Minors in Anthropology, with a particular interest in human evolution; and Psychology, with interests in development of the mind and neuropsychology.. I am an attorney with over 20 years of experience in both litigation and as a legal problem-solver and counselor for my clients. Clients appreciate my approachable manner and pragmatic philosophy on resolving disputes, keeping focused on the ultimate client goals and strategizing the most direct and practical path to get there.. For businesses needing outside counsel services, my firm offers a unique Outside Counsel Subscription Service billing model, which eliminates the uncertainties of hourly rate billing and instead provides a flat monthly fee to service all of your business's legal needs - a one-stop-shop for legal services all under one roof, all for the same monthly flat fee amount.. My practice focuses on providing general counseling and litigation services to individual and business clients with a particular expertise in the employment, environmental, education, and social services law spaces.. My employment and environmental law clients are almost exclusively large and small business entities (both public and private, non-profit and for-profit), although I do also represent homeowners with environmental issues and employees with wage & hour, discrimination, and severance disputes.. My education law work is primarily student-centered at both the higher and lower education levels, representing both disabled and non-disabled minor and adult students in an array of education law issues, from Section 504 & IDEA placement and services, to guardianship, discipline, bullying/HIB, academic integrity, and Title IX.. I am a published author and speaker, providing employment law training and CLE presentations to clients and fellow professionals in my areas of practice.. Additionally, I take great pride in my many years of volunteer service as a trustee and committee member for local organizations in my community, including Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, Care Plus NJ, Inc. and the Alpine Learning Group's Human Rights Committee.. Firm: Ergood Law
5 Crooked Lane , Cherry Hill , New Jersey 08034
Practice Areas: Estate Planning
While licensed in New Jersey and Pennsylvania since 1993, I have focused my practice in New Jersey. I began my law career working for the Honorable John A. Fratto, a criminal law judge in Camden County, New Jersey. From there I worked for a prominent civil litigation defense firm until I found my calling as a Camden County Prosecutor. Working for then prosecutor Lee Solomon, I developed my negotiation and litigation skills as well as an ability to work with people from many different backgrounds. After six years at the prosecutor's office, I was hired to work as a Deputy Attorney General for the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice in the Organized Crime and Racketeering Bureau. Here I gained experience in the legal aspects of the investigative stages of a criminal prosecution and dealing with the real life criminal underworld. After almost a decade of practicing criminal law and working for the government, I decided to open my own law practice with a focus on Estate Planning. For the past six years, I have been helping my clients create their estate plans and the legal documents required to solidify those plans. I am always proud of my clients who have taken the time to complete and update their estate plans because this is such an important aspect of their family and financial well being. During this time, I was fortunate to have also been employed as General Counsel for a medium sized mortgage banking company where I managed the legal matters the company faced on a daily basis. The majority of my time was spent on Employment Law and Mortgage and Banking Law compliance issues. Compliance was so important due to the volume of existing laws and regulations. This is when I realized how important it is for all companies to make sure that their policies and procedure are compliant with the laundry list of federal and state employment laws and regulations they may be subject to. A focus on employment law compliance and dealing with every day employee issues in accordance with the many laws on the books will save a company from employee complaints, litigation, huge damages awards, back pay, and government fines and penalties. I am committed to guiding and working with my clients to help them focus on the importance of Estate Planning, Business Succession Planning, Elder Law isssues and Employment policies and procedures that will protect them, their families, their businesses and employees now and in the future.

Before I begin to tell you about my academic awards and achievements, I want to take a moment to tell you that I've stood in your shoes. I truly appreciate how intimidating the legal process can be to clients who are fighting to protect their interests, and those of their children. As a witness to domestic violence and the child of a broken home, I know all too well the emotional and physical journey to create a new vision for your life.. I was drawn into Family law because of my own personal circumstances. My three month old nephew was placed up for adoption without my brother's consent. He was placed with a family in Canada before we even knew he was missing. My entire family was devastated and didn't have a clue about what to do next. As the only attorney in the family, everyone looked to me for answers. I had never touched a family law case before except for a clinic in law school. This time, there was so much at stake. Needless to say, I was scared to lose him and knew I had to do whatever I could. I started in Family Court in NY and worked my way to Canada to pick him up almost three months later! Although, it was probably the scariest thing I have every done, it was by far the most rewarding. This helped me realize that my potential is so much greater than my fears. Every time I look at my nephew, I am reminded at how blessed I am to have been able to earn a law degree to help others.. This personal story of triumph is what fuels my passion to be a compassionate legal advocate. One who strives for a holistic solution to the situation, rather than just a legal one.. Before starting my own firm in 2009, I served as a prosecutor in Pennsylvania and a law guardian (children’s attorney) in New Jersey. I am admitted to practice law in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. The first in my family to complete college, I am a proud graduate of Columbia University and Temple Law School.. As the founder of a thriving law practice, a wife, and a mother of two wonderful children, I know the importance my own wellbeing plays in having a healthy family and successful business. I am certified in Reiki and practice Bikram (Hot) Yoga.
