I was raised in Central Mexico until I was 17 when I returned to United States to attend a University. I also lived in El Salvador and visited Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Honduras. I was involved in providing clothing, food and medical care to orphaned youths and underprivileged people in several countries. The focus of my legal practice is to provide assistance and access to Justice for the Spanish-Speaking people of the Southwest of the United States. My office is located in Albuquerque, NM but I frequently travel to Texas and other parts of NM to provide legal assistance to more rural areas that don't have local attorneys. Monica has represented clients in all types of immigration cases for over a decade.  She began as an Accredited Representative assisting clients with adjustment of status, family petitions, Naturalizations and U Visa and VAWA petitions.  Today she continues representing immigrant populations as an attorney and has expanded her practice to also include removal defense and other areas of immigration law.. Monica's commitment to working for immigrant families and immigrant rights started in 2002 when she spent two years on the U.S./Mexico border in South Texas as an AmeriCorps volunteer providing "Know Your Rights" presentations to detained immigrants and offering legal support to pro bono attorneys.  Later, as an Accredited Representative in Indiana, she helped to develop a program to assist immigrant victims of crime and domestic violence as they navigated the immigration process. She continues her dedication to the immigrant community where she now resides in Albuquerque, NM.. Monica received her J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.  During law school she served as the President and Vice President for the Association of Public Interest Law, raising funds and providing resources for students interested in serving in the public interest legal sector.  She also received Clinical Honors and the Dean's Award for significant contribution to the law school community.  She spent a summer of her law school career in Guatemala volunteering with community based organizations focused on indigenous rights.. Monica is married and the couple has three children.  Together they enjoy traveling, spending time in the outdoors and exploring the Southwest.

Michael grew up in San Antonio, Texas. Michael was awarded his Bachelor’s Degree from Trinity University with an emphasis in teaching political science. Out of college he began teaching at a Montessori School in San Antonio. While teaching in San Antonio he attained his Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology. This background translates seamlessly into the legal world.. Michael met his wife Heather in San Antonio, who was from Albuquerque, and he followed her home. Once he moved to Albuquerque, Michael taught Humanities at Amy Biehl High School. While at Amy Biehl Michael was the first teacher from New Mexico selected for the Supreme Court StreetLaw Institute in Washington D.C. The Institute was created to aid and help teachers in communicating complex laws to students. At the StreetLaw Institute Michael’s passion for the law was re-ignited. The next year he applied and was accepted to the University Of New Mexico School Of Law.. Michael completed his J.D. in two-and-half years and graduated Order of the Coif and Magna Cum Laude. While in law school Michael was able to extern at the New Mexico Supreme Court and clerk with Montgomery & Andrews. Upon graduation, Michael began work at Guebert Bruckner P.C.. At Guebert Bruckner P.C. Michael gained experience and insight into how insurance companies and defense firms handle and treat cases. He also gained experience in handling Plaintiff’s claims for personal injuries, bad faith, and construction defects. This exposure allows Michael to view claims from the perspective of all parties and create a detailed litigation plan. Does the idea of preparing your will put you off?  Many people believe it is something only old rich people must do.  Don't believe it!  Estate planning is a process to get your affairs in order so you will make life easier for your surviving family members when you die.  Estate planning is something you do for your family.    An estate plan is about your family not money!  It can help maintain healthy family relationships during a tense and traumatic time.. It is never too early to plan with a simple last will and testament, advance health directives and durable power of attorney.  We hear about or maybe you know someone who suffered a fatal heart attack, stroke or was involved in a car accident.  Events like this do no leave time for you to plan for your family.  It is better to have estate planning documents in place before they are needed and before it is too late to make them.  Remember that estate planning is not just for what happens to your assets after you die.  You need protection in case you suffer incapacity or the inability to speak or act for yourself.  Having a durable power of attorney for health care and to manage your assets right away can prevent a situation that creates work and hassle for everyone during an extremely difficult and emotionally demanding time.  Estate planning covers you in your lifetime and death..
