Barbara J. Rynne is a dynamic litigator with over 20 years of trial experience She began her career as a prosecutor, where she received extensive trial advocacy training and experience. Barbara now focuses her practice almost exclusively on family law matters, including divorce, child custody, support, and equitable distribution, in addition to domestic violence.. Outside of the law, Barbara is a mother to four children, including a set of triplets. She is a former Girl Scout Cadet Leader, and SwimMAC team parent. Julia received a BA in Criminology and BA in Sociology from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Julia went on to earn her J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School (N/K/A Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School), in Lansing, Michigan. During law school, Julia competed in the Mock Trial First Year Competition and was a semifinalist. She also competed in Moot Court and was a finalist in the Negotiations Competition. During her last semester of law school, Julia completed an externship at the Durham County Public Defender’s Office.. Julia is an associate attorney in the Family Law department. Julia focuses on Family Law and Domestic Violence Protections Orders. Julia has always had a love for this area of law. Julia herself is a stepmom. Being a member of a blended family, she uses her experiences to relate to her clients. She understands the struggles that come with being in a blended family. Julia strives to make sure her client’s voices are heard. She has always been an advocate for her clients, always taking extra time to listen to their concerns and giving sound advice.. In her spare time, Julia likes to spend time with her family and their dog. In September 2023 Julia and her husband welcomed a new baby boy to their family. I have lived and worked in North Carolina almost my whole life, minus a short adventure to Norfolk, Virginia while my husband was on active duty in the Navy, and consider myself a Carolina girl through and through. I am a proud double Tarheel with both a Bachelor’s and a J.D. from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.. While at UNC, I had the opportunity to work in the Domestic Violence Legal Clinic. This work was the single most meaningful thing I did throughout my collective time at Carolina. As part of my clinic work, I received the Certificate of Merrit for Trauma-Informed Lawyering.. I have seen the impact divorce and child custody can have on families. I have seen what it is like when things break cleanly, but also what happens when the end of a relationship thrusts your world into chaos. Now, I use those experiences and my expertise in the legal field to find the best possible solutions for you and your family.. A native North Carolinian from Lumberton, Ron Scott grew up as the son of a Pastor; observing his parents serve in the local community allowed him to experience first hand the indelible fulfillment the effect of serving can have effect on a person and the lives of many.
