Before forming the firm in 2013, Matthew worked as an associate attorney at a mid-sized general practice law firm in Garden City, New York.  He represented corporate clients in commercial litigation cases before state and local judges and arbitrators.  He also represented purchasers and sellers of residential real estate transactions, drafted employment contracts, service contracts, promissory notes and security agreements, assisted the firm in its representation of a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustee for the Eastern District of New York and represented clients in misdemeanor criminal and traffic cases.. After graduating from law school, Matthew worked for a closing attorney who represented commercial lenders in a variety of real estate transactions, including purchases, refinances, short sales and loan modifications.. During law school, Matthew served as a legal intern in two trial bureaus and the homicide bureau of the Kings County District Attorney’s Office.  He assisted senior prosecutors in investigating and prosecuting felony and misdemeanor criminal cases.  Matthew also worked for a boutique real estate litigation firm in midtown Manhattan drafting legal memoranda, pleadings and motions.             In between semesters pursuing his undergraduate degree in business administration Matthew worked for one of the largest owners of rent stabilized apartment housing in New York City.. Mr. Brock has handled cases from simple speeding tickets to First Degree Murder, however his practice is primarily focused on DUI and drug related crimes.  He is one of the few attorneys in the nation certified as an instructor in the DUI Detection & Standardized Field Sobriety Testing course recognized by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). This is the same course that police officers take in order to make DUI arrests while in the Academy.  He is licensed in both TN & GA.. As impaired driving laws with regards to substances other than alcohol are becoming more prevalent, Mr. Brock is ahead of the curve with his education.  He has been certified in ARIDE (Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement) to help disect when officers are making calls of reasonable suspicion based on alcohol OR drugs.  He has also taken a modified version of the drug recognition evaluation (DRE) training given to law enforcement. DRE includes a number of different tests, field sobriety tests (some of which are also used to determine alcohol intoxication) as well as physiological tests, (such as those which measure the dilation of the suspect’s pupils, blood pressure, internal clock, etc...)  This training allows Mr. Brock to not only assess whether an arrest has been done properly for alcohol impairment but also allows him to stop officer's from making claims that they suspected there may have been other drugs involved as well.. Mr. Brock is an Ambassador for the DUI Defense Lawyer's Association, member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys and the Chattanooga Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys.
