Practice Areas: Corporate , Estate Planning, Government Agencies, Elder Law, Elder Law
I am moving my practice more into the Elder Law as I am getting more and more questions in this area. I didn't like the answers I was giving to people who had questions in this area so I started to educate myself more and more into this area. I joined a national group of attorneys specializing in this area and through them I have found I can give answers that really help my clients.. I am a proud father of three wonderful kids (now adults) the youngest still in college but currently studying abroad in Australia.. In addition to practicing law, I enjoy running, biking and an occassional triathalon. I have run several marathons (New York, Marine Corp, Twin Cities, Rock'n'Roll San Diego, Memphis), biked 100 miles (threre different times) and participated in many triathalons.. Currently I lead a team training cyclist to ride 100 miles, the Bluff City Blues 100 Training Team.

Michael Hartup has dedicated his practice to representing disabled individuals from the greater Jackson, Tennessee, and Paducah, Kentucky, areas as they seek Social Security Disability or Veterans Compensationbenefits. He believes in the compassionate and respectful representation of the unfortunate individuals who have been left unable to work to support themselves and their families due to injury or illness.. Mike earned an undergraduate bachelor’s degree with magna cum laude honors and his Juris Doctor from the University of Memphis. He is licensed to practice in all Tennessee State Courts and in the United States District Court for the Western district of Tennessee. Mike represents hundreds of disabled individuals in hearings and appeals every year, but he makes it a priority to meet with each of his clients personally and to be available to their individual needs. He understands that many are bewildered and frustrated by the bureaucratic claims process. He believes it is important to take the time to explain the process and law to his clients and to prepare them for what to expect throughout each step of appeal.. Mike lives with his wife, Mary-Glenn, and their two daughters in Jackson, Tennessee. He and his family are members of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in downtown Jackson. Mike is an avid runner and cyclist. He also enjoys fly-fishing and backpacking. He has run the St. Jude Marathon in both Memphis and Nashville.
