I learned the values of responsibility and a hard work ethic from a young age. Growing up in the small, north Texas town of Sherman, I worked to help support my mom and two younger brothers since the seventh grade. I know what it's like when the deck is stacked against you, but I also know the value of pulling together - and the importance of getting a helping hand. I went from being a paper boy to wanting to be a lawyer at about that same time, when my mom got cleaned out in my parent's divorce. She didn't have the legal help she needed and the system didn't treat her fairly. My Mom continued to work hard and gave my two brothers and me a great upbringing. I worked hard, played football, studied as best I could, and had the greatest buddies a guy could ever have. But I always remembered the sting of being overpowered and that made me keep an eye out for the little guy and I had a soft spot for those who weren't as fortunate as me. From day one of my career I have worked as a lawyer for people who have been unfairly victimized - good folks injured by unsafe products, by careless citizens and employers. Always have, always will. Before law school, I graduated from Austin College with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. Austin College was great with the best thing being it is where I met my wife and made lifelong friends. In addition to the heavy work load I was active in politics on campus and athletics. I worked throughout college. I worked as a cook, waiter and bartender in restaurants. I also drove 18 wheelers for Mayflower moving company all over the country during the summer. I maintain my CDL and have first-hand knowledge of the trucking industry having actually driven an 18 wheeler over the road.I earned my law degree from South Texas College of Law. During law school, I gained admission to the Law Review and held the position of Assistant Editor in Chief. STCL has the best courtroom advocacy skills team in the country. Year in and year out it is ranked at the top in this category. For two years I was a member of the vaunted STCL moot court team during law school, competing in tournaments around the country. In addition to arguing as an advocate in the competitions I was always the brief writer for my teams. My briefs were awarded "best brief" awards in moot court tournaments twice. During my third year of law school, I was awarded the Distinguished Service Award as recognition of my accomplishments in the advocacy program.Right out of law school I began my career at a major Houston personal injury litigation firm. I worked on cases involving unsafe cars, trucks and vans and 18 wheeler wrecks. The firm was great but I wanted to have a say in all of the decisions. So when I was 32, my law partner, Tony Denena and I formed Denena & Points, PC. Since then, I have tried several more injury cases to verdict. I have taken on cases against major corporations such as General Motors Corporation, Ford Motor Company, Suzuki, Toyota, Chrysler, Firestone, Bridgestone, Cooper Tires, Goodyear, Dunlop Tire, Hankook Tire, TRW, Takata, Autoliv, Alcoa, and others on behalf of families all over Texas, in several federal courts in Texas and in seven other states. Also, I have handled to resolution hundreds of other cases like car wrecks, truck wrecks, and injuries in stores and on business properties. These are the types of cases Tony and I have a passion for and continue to aggressively pursue on behalf of our clients. In addition to this practical experience handling a wide variety of cases, I have written extensively on issues related to expert testimony admission, automotive products liability, accident reconstruction, toxic torts, and multi-district litigation. For the past five consecutive years I have been named a "Rising Star" in personal injury litigation as printed in Texas Monthly magazine. This honor is granted to only 2.5% of attorneys in Texas under the age of 40.I have been with my beautiful and brilliant wife Jenifer since 1993. Jenifer is also an attorney and practiced for six years after graduating law school from the University of Texas. We have three wonderful young children - two boys ages 7 and 5 and little spark plug of a girl who is 2. Family is so important to me and I spend as much time as I can with my wife and children. Currently I am coaching soccer and flag football and try to coach everything I have the time to coach with my boys. Something tells me that my daughter will be just as interested in athletics as they are. Jenifer and I both do our best to work in the community. Jenifer is the treasurer for the elementary school PTA and I serve on a committee with our homeowners' association. Somehow Jenifer juggles her massive role as great mother and wife, gives time to our community, still does some legal work on the side and has turned into a great guitar player. We are parishioners of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.I am licensed to practice law in the state courts of Texas and the United States District Courts in the Southern, Western, Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas. I have served as counsel in California, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, Maryland and Colorado as well. I am a member of the American League of Justice (ALJ), the Attorneys Information Exchange Group (AIEG), the Texas Bar Association, The Texas Trial Lawyers Association (TTLA), and the Houston Trial Lawyers Association.

Practicing law since 2005, I now devote most of my practice to helping families resolve conflict out of court. Many of my clients are faced with either divorce or legal issues that sometimes follow divorce. And while family conflict of any form is immensely difficult, I strive to help my clients clearly identify and assess the major legal issues that can be hidden amidst broken relationships. In every case, I teach my clients practical conflict resolution skills for the issues they face now and those that lie in the road ahead. And as often as I'm able, I steer them toward client-driven processes that help to both minimize exposure to unnecessary conflict and facilitate creative, custom-tailored solutions within safe and confidential processes outside of the courthouse.. Over the last few years, I've also acquired a great deal of experience handling proceedings to clarify and enforce the division of federal retirement benefits (both military and federal civil service), representing both retirees and former spouses. This is an area of family law that often presents complex issues due to the ever-present tension between federal law, which controls these federal retirement benefits, and state law, which controls the division of marital property.. My practice areas include divorce, collaborative law, mediation, adoption, division of retirement benefits, wills and probate.

On November 5, 2020, I was BOARD CERTIFIED IN CIVIL TRIAL LAW by the NATIONAL BOARD OF TRIAL ADVOCACY. The experience and additional requirements to become Board Certified is very intensive and result in only a small percentage of lawyers like myself meeting the onerous requirements. My website details my expererience and justifies my status. Please feel free to review me at: As for your case, please call me when you're serious about going to trial. Most lawyers posture for a final trial (before the court or jury) but rarely see or want to go to the Court room in front of a Judge or Jury for a trial on the merits. Rest assured, if necessary, I will go to trial for you and will not just take your money and try to talk you out of a trial. I do believe that settling cases is often beneficial for everyone, but be very confident knowing that I am very willing for a reasonable fee to help you take your case to the finish-line - judge or jury!. PS: My primary practice is not arbitration. I have not been able to get this site to change it. My primary practice is civil litigation.
