For the last 30 years, I’ve been helping people like you handle the trauma of being injured or disabled.. Approximately half of my practice is personal injury where I help individuals recover from the effects of being hurt in car, motorcycle, or truck accident. I’m paid on a contingency fee basis which means you don’t pay me until the insurance company settles with you, so essentially they are paying my fees.. Approximately twenty-five percent of my practice is helping people navigate the social security disability maze. The government pays my fees, so please don’t hesitate to ask for help if you need it.

Douglas “Doug” Mena began his career defending corporations as a trial lawyer. As an attorney for companies, Doug honed his skills in the courtroom at an early age obtaining favorable verdicts as lead counsel and second chair within his first year of practice. Since that time he has continued to improve upon his skills in the courtroom. He became so proficient that he quickly became the youngest partner of a national defense firm. But after eight-years defending corporations Doug was called to the other side of the bar. Rather than defending corporations and their employees who had clearly breached their duties, Doug wanted to use his skills to help the everyday individuals who are so often underrepresented.. A native of Houston and Katy, Texas, Doug has played sports all his life. In particular, Doug has a passion for baseball for which he played at the highest levels until injury shortened his career. Even after his injury, Doug was offered a scholarship to play at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. Doug was a four-year starter and captain of the varsity baseball team, but academics were always his highest priority. In addition to being named an Academic All-Conference Recipient all four-years, during his senior year Doug received the Emma Lou Linn Scholar-Athlete Award which is only awarded once per year to the senior student athlete with the highest overall GPA.. After completing his baseball career Doug took the same competitive drive and ambition back to Houston where he attended South Texas College of Law. While in law school Doug was a member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Fraternity and served as both a Director and an Officer of the Board of Advocates. He competed as a varsity advocate at the National Ethics Trial Competition, University of the Pacific McGeorge in 2006 and 2007, and at the National Trial Advocacy Competition, Michigan State University in 2006.. After law school, Doug kept his roots in Houston so that, one day, he could give back to the community that has given him so much. He is joined by his amazing wife, April, who has blessed him with three amazing children: their twin daughters – Sadie and Lexie – and their baby boy, Mason.. Doug’s practice includes commercial litigation matters relating to trucking and transportation liability, products liability, dram shop liability, and premises liability as well as construction defects, toxic tort, business litigation, workers’ compensation, medical malpractice, first-party litigation and general negligence. He also has experience in appellate practice at both the state and federal levels.. Doug has been listed as one of Texas’s Super Lawyers Rising Stars in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Only 2.5% of eligible Texas attorneys receive this designation.

He was the Chief Notes & Comments Editor of the Houston Law Review, and a member of the Order of the Coif and the Order of the Barons. I am a former police officer who has dealt with both minor and major crimes. As a former police officer, I learned how to investigate a crime, a crime scene, interview witnesses, and evaluate a case. I believe that this former experience has enhanced my ability to work an injury case.
