Upon graduating from George Mason Law School, Rich served a clerkship for the judges of the Arlington County Circuit Court.  Upon completion of his clerkship, Rich worked for a 1,500 lawyer international firm in its Northern Virginia office litigating for mid-size and large businesses, including many government contractors.  Rich was then recruited to become general counsel and ultimately the CEO of a technology company specializing in computer forensics, electronic discovery, and combating cyber-fraud.  After selling that company, Rich returned to George Mason Law School where he was an assistant dean and law professor, whose duties included classroom instruction and development.  Thanks to Rich’s leadership, GMU successfully launched the Center for the Protection of Intellectual property (CPIP).   Kelsey also taught Legal writing and an upper level course on discovery and electronic evidence.  In 2014, the law school graduating class honored him by selecting him as its graduation speaker.. Rich is a frequent legal analyst and commentator on radio, print and TV.  He has appeared on FOX Business News, FOX NEWS Radio, The Patriot XM, NPR, WMAL, WTOP, USA-9 TV, Channel  8 News  and dozens of stations across the country on legal issues.  National Public Radio carried his analysis of former Virginia Gov. Scott Michael Perry

Firm: Perry Charnoff PLLC
1010 N. Glebe Rd. , Arlington , Virginia 22203
Practice Areas: Wrongful Death, Personal Injury, Medical Malpractice, Medical Malpractice, Medical Malpractice, Medical Malpractice, Medical Malpractice, Medical Malpractice, Medical Malpractice, Medical Malpractice, Medical Malpractice, Medical Malpractice, Medical Malpractice, Medical Malpractice, Medical Malpractice, Medical Malpractice, Consumer Protection, Government, Personal Injury, Defective and Dangerous Products, Wrongful Death, Litigation
I believe that trial lawyers, along with the jury system, perform an integral function in our society, by leveling the playing field among parties with disparate economic resources. By focusing my practice on a select number of catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases, rather than focusing on volume, I am able to devote the individual attention that each client deserves. As a result, the vast majority of my clients are referrals from other lawyers, judges and members of the community.

Thomas Urban

Firm: Fletcher Heald & Hildreth, PLC
1300 N. 17th Street Suite 1100 , Arlington , Virginia 22320
Practice Areas: Litigation
Whether you are a company who has been sued in federal or state court in Virginia or DC or are looking to pursue an action against another company, Tom Urban is on your side, with aggressive, personalized service.  Over the past 25 years, Tom has represented large corporations such as USAA, Novartis Pharmaceuticals and GE Aircraft Engines, but has also fought big multinational conglomerates such as Monsanto, Dow Chemical, Union Carbide, American Airlines, and Hewlett-Packard.  No matter how big or small the opponent, Tom Urban is available to his clients 24/7.. DISCLAIMER - CASE RESULTS DEPEND ON A VARIETY OF FACTORS UNIQUE TO EACH CASE. CASE RESULTS DO NOT GUARANTEE OR PREDICT A SIMILAR RESULT IN ANY CASE UNDERTAKEN BY A LAWYER.. Tom Urban has represented numerous large corporations, small business owners, and even individuals in disputes in federal local courts in Northern Virginia and the District of Columbia, aggressively ensuring that they obtain a just result against their adversaries.  Tom has especially assisted many parties in the United States Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, ascting as both lead and local counsel in that court.. For almost 10 years, Mr. Urban litigated against the Monsanto Company and its teams of lawyers to try to make them pay fair compensation for contaminating a town in West Virginia with toxic doxins, taking the case all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.  Tom Urban can bring that same dedication to assist you in defending or bringing a lawsuit against someone with whom you have a dispute, whether they are a huge corporation, a smaller business, or even a business partner.. Tom successfully argued a complex procedural property case before the Supreme Court of Virginia, obtaining a complete reversal of the major portion of a decision from a trial court.  In doing so, he defeated an established insurance firm with deep ties in Virginia.. Mr. Urban won a jury verdict in the District of Columbia against a South Carolina business owner who had defrauded a D.C. entrepreneur regarding a loan to a coffee shop and then successfully defended that verdict in the D.C. Court of Appeals.  The jury pierced the corporate veil in that case, making sure that the person who benefitted from the fraud was found liable to compensate Urban's client.. Similarly, Tom Urban won a verdict in Fairfax County Circuit Court in a case where his client was awarded approximately $850,000 in compensatory damages, attorneys fees, and punitive damages.  Mr. Urban, the sole counsel for plaintiff in that case, convinced the jury to find the defendant liable for fraud and pierced the corporate veil between the defendant and the company that he used to commit fraud.  Based on information developed during that case that Urban provided to the FBI, the defendant in that case is serving time in a federal prison.. Mr. Urban's practice has included a wide variety of civil litigation, previously including matters involving computer crimes and the information superhighway, as well as complex commercial and products liability cases.  Formerly an attorney with the law firms of Williams & Connolly and King & Spalding, Mr. Urban has engaged in high-stakes litigation in all parts of the United States.. Presently, Mr. Urban represents various clients in class action cases, business disputes, defective products, RICO actions, and complex mortgage fraud cases.  In the past, Mr. Urban has served as national coordinating counsel for a drug company in products liability litigation, successfully defending his client in a jury trial in Galveston, Texas, and prevailing in a summary judgment motion on Daubert grounds in Austin, Texas.  His other representations have included issues involving antitrust, qui tam, automobile dealer-distributor, sex and race discrimination, Americans with Disabilities, attorney ethics, and First Amendment disputes.  In addition, Mr. Urban has maintained a substantial pro bono practice, representing preschool children with autism in Northern Virginia, pursuing a prisoners' rights case before the D.C. Court of Appeals, filing an opposition to a petition for certiorari in a highly publicized case for the Southern Poverty Law Center in the U.S. Supreme Court, and representing TransAfrica protestors in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.Mr. Urban received his bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1985 and, in 1990, graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center, having served as associate editor of the Georgetown Law Journal and being elected to the Order of the Coif.  He clerked for Judge Carolyn D. King, formerly chief judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.Mr. Urban is a member of the U.S. Supreme Court bar, the bars of the District of Columbia and Virginia; he is inactive in Texas and West Virginia.  Mr. Urban is a member of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the U.S. District Courts for the District of Columbia and the Eastern District of Virginia, as well as the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.Mr. Urban has co-authored several articles regarding computer crime and computer law, including a March 25, 1996 article in the National Law Journal regarding the protection of businesses on the information superhighway.  In addition, he was the author of the computer crimes chapter of Business and Legal Guide to Online and Internet Law (Glasser LegalWorks 1997).  Most recently, Tom presented a webinar regarding "Writing Contracts in the Post-Covid World" and is working on a presentation regarding class actions in the Eastern District of Virginia and the proposed class action law in Virginia state courts.
