I first became a lawyer because, as corny as it might seem, I was enthralled by watching Perry Mason when I was a young boy.  The cool and calm demeanor he exhibited in any situation, his crafty cross examination of witnesses that somehow always led to a confession, and not to mention he won all his cases.  While in law school, I volunteered at local legal clinics to help people with everyday legal issues they face, from workplace discrimination to holding a bad landlord accountable.  It was during this time that I saw what power the law held to help people, to improve people's lives, and to be a "big stick" when necessary.  This is one of the reasons I chose to represent people charged with crimes for a living, because so many of my clients are good people even if they made a mistake.  And the U.S. Constitution requires that everyone accused of a crime be entitled to a zealous defense, someone to protect their rights and challenge the government's authority when necessary.  This is why I do what I do..
