Location: Wisconsin, United States. I'm just starting a new job and I like it so far. Upon reviewing my timesheet after my first paycheck I realized my employer is rounding my minutes worked before the scheduled start of my shift. I've never seen this before so I googled about the legality and as far as I can tell it's legal as long as it isn't exclusively in the employers favor. We can punch in up to 7 minutes early. I did that every day for the first two weeks and realized those minutes were all rounded off with my first paycheck. I emailed HR to see if that meant we can also punch out 7 minutes early at the end of the day or punch in 7 minutes late at the start. They responded saying any deviation from punching in or out after my scheduled start time or prior to end time will automatically result in an Attendance Point and ultimately termination. Is this a case where they will technically pay me if I deviate from my schedule (by 7 minutes in either direction) but are still allowed to punish / terminate me for it? Potentially complicating things further, we get paid a flat 10 minutes of overtime per day for time changing into and out of our uniforms. Location: Wisconsin, USA. I'm 57 years old have been working as a union technician for a very large telecom/isp for the past 18 years. over the last 6 or so years it has become more and more apparent that I'm being excluded from the vast majority of the really light, desirable and bonus generating work my group does. And at the same time I'm routinely loaded up with large numbers of the biggest most physically demanding type of jobs we do. For example the lightest most desirable job we have is in new apartment buildings (climate controlled, no ladder work, no customer, etc.). Technicians are typically assigned 8 or more of these per day with the understanding you do as many as you can and then punch out on time. I've never been assigned a days worth of these jobs. We have new hires who've done substantially more than I have in my career. And to be clear there's no special qualification, we all hold the same title and there are typically no more than 8-10 of us on the crew so nobody getting lost in the numbers. On the other end of the spectrum I'm typically assigned 8-10+ hours of house installations with ladder work, running lines down the street, etc. heavy physical jobs. I'm the oldest guy on the crew and it would seem only the younger guys get the light work. Am I wrong to think this has to be violating our CBA as well as age…
