While working in law firms Mr. McPherson’s practice focused on Intellectual Property Management including patent, trademark and copyright protection, as well as opinion and strategy opinions based on licensing, funding or competitor analysis in a broad range of technologies ranging from simple mechanical (knives, spinal implants) to complex diagnostic machinery (non-invasive glucose monitors, DNA Microarray systems) and assays, to compositions of matter, immunoassays and vaccines and adjuvants. While working in-house as a Patent Specialist and Contract Administrator with Nanogen Inc, he managed their patent and trademark portfolio and wrote and reviewed contracts.. Before his career in law, Mr. McPherson spent over nine years with start-up biotechnology and non-profit research institutions developing and managing research used to identify the efficacy and safety aspects of drugs, devices and biologics.
