Josh is an experienced land use, real estate and business lawyer, with an emphasis on complex projects, permitting, and land use regulatory compliance. He works with clients to negotiate purchase and sale agreements, perform due diligence, obtain land use approvals, conduct environmental review, and address permitting and legislative issues involving zoning, platting, shoreline compliance and growth management. Josh is an experienced land use, environmental and real estate trial lawyer, having successfully represented clients in administrative tribunals, superior court actions, alternative dispute resolution proceedings, and before the Washington Appellate Courts.

Josh also is a seasoned business lawyer, devoting a significant amount of his practice to advising closely held Seattle-based businesses as outside general counsel. Josh provides strategic business and legal advice and handles corporate governance and commercial litigation matters for his clients.

Josh brings over 20 years of land use and planning background to his practice. Prior to attending law school, Josh worked as an environmental planner and consultant for premier Northwest firms and he served as one of four staff members on the Vermont Governor’s blue-ribbon Growth Management Commission, which ultimately recommended and crafted Vermont’s Growth Management Act.. Josh was appointed to the Seattle Planning Commission in 2008 and was twice elected Chair of the Commission. He served six years on the Planning Commission.
