I am an attorney because I am passionate about the role of law in improving the individual and collective lives of the members of our society.  With a law license, one has countless rights, and with them, serious responsibilities.  So much of life's conflicts are due to the polarization of individuals--the focus on our differences:  Christian or Muslim, Gay or Straight, Rich or Poor . . . the list goes on.  Instead, the rule of law and its practice can soften those differences and instead, serve to focus on our commonalities--the things that unite us as people in this world.. The often combativeness of the practice of law can be intellectually stimulating and emotionally fulfilling--but the focus must be on the impact it has on the lives of our clients and those around us.  This is where the ethics of each individual attorney must be be engaged and managed to serve our purpose in this role, rather than in feathering our individuals needs, legitimate or otherwise.. There is much wonderful about life in our world, yet there is so much pain and unfairness.  Each of us much choose for ourselves whether we are going to contribute to the conflict, or to the solutions.  The consideration of this opportunity is what I hope governs each decision I make each day.
