She graduated from Clear Creek Amana High School as valedictorian in 2000. She attended the University of Iowa on an athletic scholarship and graduated in 2004 with High Distinction and Honors with a bachelor’s of science degree in psychology and a minor in sociology. As a student athlete on the University of Iowa's women’s softball team, Laura earned Academic All-Big Ten and Academic All-American Honors. Laura received her law degree from Drake University Law School in 2008.. Laura is actively involved in the Iowa State Bar Association, Polk County Bar Association, Polk County Women Attorneys, Blackstone Inn of Court, and the Central Iowa Association of Collaborative Professionals.
