All too frequently, I have to remind clients that compromising on an issue means giving in a little on some issues to gain a little on others. The negotiation process is a dance of give and take and should result in a final agreement that is acceptable to both parties, each having compromised on issues less important to them to gain on the more important issues. As a matrimonial and family law attorney, I believe this is the most effective way to guide my clients through a very troublesome time in their life in order that they can more quickly put it behind them.. On the other hand, some cases can't be settled, sometimes because of the difficulty in reaching a compromise, or for other reasons. Nothing can take the place of a tough litigator fighting for your rights.
