Joseph joined Beasley Allen Law Firm in 2016 as an associate in the firm’s Mass Torts Section. He is working on cases involving the blood thinner medication Xarelto, manufactured by Johnson & Johnson subsidiary Janssen Pharmaceuticals and Bayer Corp. Xarelto has been linked to serious bleeding risks including gastrointestinal bleeding, brain bleed and death. There is currently no approved antidote to reverse the bleeding effects of Xarelto.. Education. Joseph earned his B.S. degree in political science with a pre-law emphasis, graduating magna cum laude in 2009 from Faulkner University. He then earned his J.D. from Faulkner University's Thomas Goode Jones School of Law in 2012, graduating summa cum laude.. During his time at Jones, Joseph served on the Faulkner Law Review as junior and senior editor. He was included on the Dean’s List every semester and was presented the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award by the 2012 Student Bar Association. He earned the Best Brief Award for the First Year Moot Court Competition and Best Paper Awards for Torts I, Torts II, Property I, Legal Research and Writing I and II, Moot Court Competition and Conflicts of Law. In addition, Joseph was a student representative to the American Bar Association, a student ambassador for Jones School of Law and a member of the Faulkner Board of Advocates. He competed in the Interscholastic Moot Court competitions, including the National Appellate Advocacy Competition and the National Health Law Moot Court Competition.. Background. Prior to joining Beasley Allen as an associate, Joseph obtained a broad range of legal experience. Joseph previously worked in Beasley Allen’s Mass Torts Section, handling cases related to transvaginal mesh. He then worked at the Montgomery office of Holtsford, Gilliland, Higgins, Hitson & Howard P.C. before returning to Beasley Allen in 2016. While in law school, Joseph worked as a law clerk at Beasley Allen, the Alabama Attorney General’s Office and the Holtsford, Gilliland firm. He also worked with the Elmore County District Attorney’s Office and Judge Truman M. Hobbs, Jr., Fifteenth Judicial Circuit of Alabama.. Community Involvement. Joseph serves on the Jimmy Hitchcock Memorial Award Committee and the YMCA Boys Work Committee. He and his wife, Brittany, live in Pike Road, Alabama, with their son, Levi. They are active members at University Church of Christ and are involved in local and international mission work.
