Brittany joined Beasley Allen Law Firm in October 2014 as a lawyer in our Mass Torts Section. She is working on cases where the regular use of talcum powder by women in the genital area for personal hygiene has been linked to the development of ovarian cancer.. Notable Cases. Brittany has served as part of a team of attorneys who took three talcum powder cases to trial. In February 2016, a St. Louis, Missouri, jury found Johnson & Johnson liable for the death of Jackie Fox, and awarded her family $72 million in damages. In May 2016, another St. Louis jury awarded Gloria Ristesund $55 million in damages, finding Johnson & Johnson liable for Ristesund’s damages related to her ovarian cancer. In October 2016, a St. Louis jury awarded Deborah Giannecchini $70.075 million for her injuries suffered in relation to her ovarian cancer.. Education. Brittany graduated cum laude from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in May 2014, where she was a Dean’s Scholarship recipient. Brittany was copy editor for the Cumberland Law Review and included in two publications: Brittany Norman, Case Note, State jury decision reigns supreme in determination of sufficiency of evidence for federal habeas relief. Cavazos v. Smith, 132 S. Ct. 2 (2011), 43 CUMB. L. She also was oral advocate on the National Moot Court Team for two years and competed in the 2013 and 2014 Cristol, Kahn, Paskay Cup Moot Court Competition and the 2013 and 2014 Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition; was a 2012 Parham Williams Trial Competition quarterfinalist; was a finalist in the 2012 Saad Moot Court Competition; and was president of Christian Legal Society.. Brittany graduated from the University of Alabama Birmingham in May 2014, earning a Masters of Public Health, which has provided her with a unique perspective on the healthcare issues involved with her cases.. Prior to joining Beasley Allen, she worked as a law clerk at the firm for two summers, and also clerked for the Alabama Disabilities Advocacy Program.. Professional Associations. Britany is a member of the Alabama State Bar, Alabama State Bar Young Lawyers Section, Alabama State Bar Health Law Section and the Alabama State Bar Women's Law Section. In 2016, Brittany was appointed to the Alabama State Bar’s Law School and Legal Education Task Force. She currently serves on Cumberland School of Law’s Alumni Admission Board..
