About Bruce Levitt
During my 30 year legal career I have been practicing exclusively in the areas of consumer and small business bankruptcy, foreclosure defense, commercial litigation and loan modifications. During this time I have helped thousands with debt problems eliminate debt and save their homes. I also litigate in both State and Federal court.. I practice law with my wife, Shelley Slafkes. We are a great team. Even though we have been practicing for many years we never stop learning. We treat every client with compassion and with respect. As a small law firm we pride ourselves on providing high level service to every client we represent knowing that every situation is unique and important. We promise to work hard and fight for you as if we were fighting for our own home and our own family.. Admitted to practice in New Jersey in 1984, I was previously a Bankruptcy Trustee for the Office of the United States Trustee in Newark, New Jersey where I administered Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 cases. I have lectured and given seminars to lawyers, individuals and homeowners on bankruptcy, loan modifications and foreclosure related topics.. As an experienced litigator, among my proudest accomplishments was my successful representation of the prevailing Plaintiff in the case of Kemp v. Countrywide Loans. This case gained national prominence in the ongoing battle to require mortgage lenders to follow the law before they can foreclose and take away a person’s home.. I believe in the importance of volunteerism and have devoted many years of service to non-profit organizations. I served for many years on the Board of the South Mountain YMCA and of the Interfaith Hospitality Network of Essex County which provides shelter to homeless families throughout Essex County, New Jersey.. Contact me to discuss your situation and how we can help you save your home and get the fresh start you deserve.
