Scarlette was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. She graduated from Male High School in 2004. She then attended the University of Louisville where she majored in Political Science. Upon admission, Scarlette was accepted to the Harlan Scholar Program, an undergraduate honor society, and enrichment program for students interested in a career in law. Scarlette graduated from the University of Louisville with honors in 2008.. Immediately after college, Scarlette attended law school at the Brandeis School of Law, also at the University of Louisville. In her third year Scarlette began working as a law clerk at The Poppe Law Firm while also completing an externship at the Jefferson County Commonwealth Attorney's Office.. In May 2011 Scarlette graduated from law school in the top 10% of her class. Because of her academic achievements she was invited to join the prestigious Brandeis Honor Society upon graduation. After passing the Kentucky Bar in October 2011, she was invited to join The Poppe Law Firm as an associate. In 2017 Scarlette married Samuel Kelty and the two live in Louisville.. Scarlette is an active member of the Kentucky Justice Association, serving on the Board of Governors, Chair of the Women's Law Caucus, and Co-Editor of The Advocate. She enjoys mentoring young people and now serves on a volunteer basis as the Alumni Advisor for the Harlan Scholars Program at the University of Louisville. Scarlette is a member of Okolona Christian Church.. Scarlette was named Outstanding Board Member 2017 by the Kentucky Justice Association and a Super Lawyer Rising Star for 2018.
