Milena Velilla grew up in Medellin, Colombia. She is fluent in Spanish and familiar with the Hispanic culture. At age 15 Milena Velilla moved to California where she continued her studies always with the dream of becoming an attorney.. Milena Velilla attended San Diego State University where she received her Bachelor degree in Integrated Marketing Communications and graduated with honors. From there she began her law career at University of Illinois in Champaign- Urbana. She took a semester off when she moved to Thailand to teach English to underprivileged children. She finished law school at the University of California Davis, ranked 37th in the nation by U.S. News and World Report 2019.. While in law school she advocated for her clients in immigration, family law and criminal defense matters. She then transitioned into workers’ compensation Applicant’s work where she has remained for the last five years.. She served as the vice president for the workers’ compensation section of the Sacramento Bar Association in 2017 and as the president in 2018.
