Nicholas J. Bontrager (Nick) received his J.D. from the University of La Verne College of Law in 2007 and his B.A. in Law and Society with a Minor in Global Peace and Security from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 2004. He was admitted to the State Bar of California in December of 2007, and is admitted to practice in all District Courts in California, the District Court of Colorado, the District Court for Northern Florida, and the District Court for Northern and Southern Illinois as well as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.. Nick has concentrated his practice in consumer protection his entire career. Prior to co-founding Martin & Bontrager, APC, Nick spent four years as Department Head of a leading national consumer law firm where he managed the firm’s nationwide practice before leaving to manage the consumer finance department of another of the nation’s leading consumer law firms for nearly three years, where he added several years of lead class action counsel experience to his resume, including acting as lead counsel in the TCPA text message class action brought against the Los Angeles Clippers.. Over the course of his career, Nick has acted as lead or co-counsel in over 5,000 individual and class action consumer claims which have either successfully settled prior to litigation, settled during litigation or prevailed at trial. In 2009, Nick was named the 2nd “Most Active” FDCPA attorney in the United States by Webrecon, LLC, representing well over 300 consumers in federal courts alone. Nick is a member in good standing with the National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA) and has also acted as guest speaker at events concerning consumer law matters.
