Detric L. Kemp was born and raised in Louisiana. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana. While attending Dillard University, Mr. Kemp was a member of the Alpha Kappa Mu National Honor Society and the Political Science Club. In addition, Mr. Kemp served as English, Science, and Math tutor and assisted on of Dillard University’s political science professors with the cable television program called Dr. Clark Reports. Mr. Kemp also participated in the annual AIDS Walk and Relay for Life.. Mr. Kemp received a Juris Doctor from Howard University. While attending law school, Mr. Kemp spent a summer working for the Office of the Attorney General at the Department of Mental Health in Washington, D.C. where he worked to address various issues related to mental health consumers. Mr. Kemp also worked in the Office of Legal Counsel at the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. There, he worked to address various issues regarding employment discrimination.. After completing law school, Mr. Kemp served a one-year term as a judicial law clerk at the District Court of Maryland for Howard and Carroll counties. There, he worked for seven judges and responsibilities included but were not limited to conducting legal research and drafting legal memoranda. Prior to joining Conklyn & Associates, Mr. Kemp worked for CACI on a contract with the Environmental Enforcement Division of the Department of Justice. In this role, Mr. Kemp worked on cases that resulted in multi-billion dollar awards to the United States government.. Since joining Conklyn & Associates, he has been representing clients in divorce, adoption, child support, mediation, and property division.
