About Adriane Jemmott
As an undergraduate student Ms. Jemmott became involved in civil and human rights anti-apartheid advocacy initiatives. Upon Graduation, she staffed a National Council of Churches project, "Stand for Truth Until South Africa is Free" - National Lobby Day for Comprehensive Sanctions, 1989 June 16 and on the South African Women's Day Committee. She went on to participate in People to People diplomacy initiatives in Latin America and the Caribbean with emphasis on the impact of Structural Adjustment Policies on the lives of women, was involved in organizing local celebrations of International Women's Day and served on the Board of the DC Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Ms. Jemmott interned with the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, where she completed the Annual Country Report for Suriname. Ms. Jemmott served as an Electoral Observer for the first Free South African Elections for exiles living in Washington DC, as National Organizer and Board Member of an anti-nuclear policy organization lobbying to redirect federal discretionary budget spending to human needs. Ms. Jemmott was also an electoral observer for elections in Guatemala and served as Coordinator of Volunteers for the 30th Anniversary of the March on Washington.Ms. Jemmott subsequently served as a Research Associate for the Human Radiation Experiments Litigation Project and as an advocate regarding other Environmental Justice issues including coordinating the participation of Environmental Justice advocates in the Environmental Protection Agency's Common Sense Initiative. Ms. Jemmott has extensive e-discovery management experience (including managing a staff of 14 during a year long tobacco trial) and over 20 years of nonprofit board/management experience and experience as a Proposal Grant Reviewer for Leadership for a Changing World, A Ford Foundation Funded Program. Admitted to: the Maryland Bar; U.S., District Court of Maryland; U.S. Supreme Court and the District of Columbia Bar.Specialties:Experiences include: CINA (Child Welfare/Juvenile Law) and Family Law Litigation, Labor and Employment, Environmental Regulations, Business Law (Contract negotiations and settlements, debt relief), Legislative Advocacy, International Law and EEO Mediations.Currently, Ms. Jemmott serves as an Attorney for the Counsel for Child Abuse and Neglect Office in Washington DC, has a Family Law, Elder Law and General Practice and serves as faculty in the University of Phoenix School of Business.
