As I began college, I firmly believed having knowledge of one (law) would help me with the other (Public Service). " “One of my mentors, R. L. Anderson, who was also my High School counselor, helped me get a part-time job in Harold English’s office my Senior year,” he continued, referring to a long-time Tarrant County lawyer. “This experience worked out great and solidified my interest in practicing law. Mostly because I saw that Mr. English was really making a difference in other people’s lives.” Today, David is actively engaged in the pursuit of both of his passions: He’s the leader of Harris Cook’s daily operations, a prominent Family and Business Law attorney---and he's also the Mayor of Mansfield, a post he’s held since 2008. “I enjoy the challenges of both jobs and how they often complement one another,” said Cook. “I also like the fact that I’m following the example and tradition established by our Firm’s Founder, Senator Chris Harris.” David was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1997, following his graduation from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law, which is now known as Texas A&M University School of Law. He completed his undergraduate work at Stephen F. Austin State University, where he received a degree in Public Administration. He’s since become one of the most sought-after Family Law attorneys in Tarrant County, a specialty in which he’s Board Certified. Within that discipline, he specializes in cases that involve Complex Division of Assets or Contested Child Custody matters, and often finds himself representing business owners. “What I find rewarding is that even though I’m usually working with someone at their lowest point in the beginning, I can almost always guide them through the process in such a way that they end up in a much better place than where I found them,” he said. “I feel like it’s a Practice Area where I can make a positive impact and a lasting impression.”
