He has tried more than 300 trials, and has argued more than 1,000 contested hearings.. As an Assistant State's Attorney, Romas has tried many felony and misdemeanor cases, including Murder, Sex Assault, Financial Crimes, Burglary, Aggravated Battery, Domestic Battery, DUI, and traffic offenses. He was also a member of the DuPage Crash and Accident Reconstruction Team (DUCART), assisting investigating officers at accident scenes with legal issues as they related to crashes involving great bodily injury or death. Specific specialized unit assignments included Financial Crimes and Public Integrity, Felony Review, and Sexual Violence/Child Protection.. Education. Presentations / Recognition. “The Prolonged and Complex Case” – National District Attorney’s Association conference on Prosecuting Homicide Cases, March 6-11, 2010 in Orlando, FL- Co-presented with Hon. Joseph E. Birkett. Board of Directors’ Trial Advocacy Award for Excellence in Litigation of Capital Cases – Association of Government Attorneys in Capital Litigation, 2009-2010. Other Notable Experience. From 1994 to 1997, Romas lived and worked in the newly independent Lithuania. He was contracted by numerous organizations for his Lithuanian and English language skills for interpretation and translation, including:United Nations Development Program, EU-PHARE, Lithuanian-European Institute (politics and economics),Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Litinterp.
