Sarah joined the firm following a federal clerkship with the Honorable Beth Bloom in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Sarah graduated from Indiana University with a double major in History and Jewish Studies, and earned her Master’s Degree from Columbia University’s Teachers’ College. Sarah spent the next four years teaching History, Government, and Mock Trial to high school students in New York City Public Schools. She was appointed Chair of the Social Studies Department and founded the Advanced Placement program at the Brooklyn Institute for Liberal Arts. Sarah was also selected as one of eight teachers across New York City to revise the Ninth Grade Global History Curriculum for New York City’s Public Schools.. While working as a high school teacher, Sarah enrolled in Brooklyn Law School’s Evening Program, earning her J.D., magna cum laude, in three-and-a-half years. While working full time and going to school at night, she found time to successfully compete on Brooklyn Law School’s moot court and mock trial teams and to serve as an Editor of Brooklyn Law School’s Journal of Public Policy. While in law school, Sarah published an article addressing the public’s obligation to protect child witnesses who testify in criminal cases.Sarah transitioned from teaching when she was hired as the Legal Assistant to New York City’s Special Narcotics Prosecutor. During the two years she served in this role, she conducted legal and policy research related to the opioid epidemic, attended court proceedings, and provided administrative support.. Following graduation from law school, Sarah was hired by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office where she served for two years as an Assistant District Attorney. Sarah handled all aspects of criminal cases, including interviewing witnesses, conducting Grand Jury presentations, engaging in discovery, negotiating plea deals, and otherwise seeing cases through to disposition, including by jury verdict.
