I practice law with the belief that my clients can achieve the best solutions for reconfiguring their families, when they have the help of attorneys and other professionals who empower them during their difficult family crisis. I encourage my clients to ask many questions and educate themselves on possible outcomes for their families. I bring a unique background to family law in that I began my training as a child and family advocate when I obtained my master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan. Throughout the social work program and thereafter I counseled children and their families using my training in “love and logic” and other solution-focused techniques in dealing with family issues, i.e. divorce, substance abuse, delinquency. I elected to move forward to obtain my law degree from Cleveland Marshall College of Law in order to use my skill as a social worker to become an effective advocate for people undergoing a divorce, children and their families.I have experience working in Washtenaw, Livingston, Oakland, Wayne, and Macomb Counties. I have been trained to litigate volatile divorce actions, but have found that mediation is the appropriate forum for resolving family issues. I continue to believe that mediation allows for individuals to come to a resolution that is best suited for their unique personal and familial goals.

Excellent, knowledgeable, compassionate attorneys are not born--they are made, and their achievement is recognized by their peers.  I received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Law Review of Wayne State's Law School and the Michiganian of the Year Award from the Detroit News.  I have taught Family Law in the evening at Wayne State's Law School for 13 years now as an adjunct professor and have practiced law for 32 years in the areas of real estate, business law, family law, construction law, litigation, and appeals.  I prevailed in the now famous Baby Jessica case where the U of M Law School's Child Advocacy Clinic was my opponent and have handled almost 30 appeals (including an important case under the ADA in the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, where I prevailed).  I obtained a jury verdict of over $1M in a First Amendment case and a significant jury verdict in a securities fraud case (both in federal court).   I have authored approximately 15 scholarly articles that were published by  the Wayne Law Review in the areas of property tax, real estate, trusts and estates, and family law.  Many more of my articles were published by the Washtenaw County Bar Association (including a series on foreclosure law).  I was a member of the Saline School Board for 12 years and served on the Saline Tax Board of Review as well as the Representative Assembly of the Bar Association. Our firm, Faupel Law, P.C., just celebrated its 25th anniversary, and before founding that firm, I worked for several very successful Detroit-area firms where I received excellent training from the best.  Besides me, our firm consists of  two associate attorneys, Sandy Musser and Dan Ferency (who both worked with area circuit court judges before joining our firm), and Tony Hart, who is an attorney experienced in sophisticated business transactions; tax appeals and tax planning; and estate planning from the simplest plan to the more exotic.  In addition to having his law degree and having worked as a CPA, Tony also has a master of laws degree in Tax.   If you are cruising the internet looking for an attorney, look no further than Faupel Law, P.C.

At the beginning of each case, Mr. Lipsitz tells his clients they can expect honesty, integrity, and compassion from him.. “I explain to my clients that I will do everything in my ability to help them get what they want out of the process, but I will also honestly represent what I think the likelihood of that is,” he said. “I also explain to them that I am here to listen if they need to unload or vent, or just talk about their situation.”
