Suzannah joined Van Winkle’s Real Estate team in 2006. Since her arrival, she has been immersed in both individual and business real estate transactions. Suzannah’s experience includes drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts, leases and loan documentation; conducting research pertaining to development, subdivisions and a range of other real estate matters; drafting various real estate agreements (such as easement agreements); and closing real estate transactions. Suzannah also assists developers and community associations with drafting, reviewing and amending contracts and governing documents, such as restrictive covenants.

Lindsay Thompson is a principal with The Van Winkle Law Firm and focuses her practice on commercial real estate, land use, and matters involving property owner associations. Since joining the firm in 2008, she has represented banks in commercial financing transactions and assisted developers and other landowners in contract negotiations, acquisitions and sales, leasing, financing, due diligence, zoning, title matters, and real property disputes. David practices in the area of business litigation, principally involving patent  infringement and antitrust matters.  Prior to joining Van Winkle, David practiced for eight years with a firm in South Carolina, also in the field of business litigation.  He has experience litigating in federal and state courts, and is licensed in both North Carolina and South Carolina.  David is admitted to practice in the Western and Middle Districts of North Carolina, as well as the District of South Carolina.. David’s educational background includes graduate work in statistics and in formal modeling of economic and political behavior, including collusive behavior by cartels.. In North Carolina, David practices primarily in the areas of intellectual property infringement and antitrust litigation.. David’s experience in South Carolina included representation of lenders in mortgage repurchase litigation and experience defending clients in bankruptcy adversary litigation brought by bankruptcy trustees.

Carleton is an experienced trial and appellate litigator who represents businesses ranging from local enterprises to large national or multi-national companies. He appears regularly as lead or local counsel in federal court, North Carolina Business Court, and state court in cases involving commercial disputes, employment claims, and intellectual property.. Carleton also has significant experience in civil rights matters, having handled constitutional claims affecting freedom of speech, public employment, and due process.. As outside counsel for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, he has represented the Tribe on novel civil rights issues under federal and tribal law.. Carleton is admitted to practice before all Cherokee Tribal Courts and all state and federal courts in North Carolina. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the Federal Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States..
