Michael Parsons is an Atlanta native licensed to practice law in both Georgia and Mississippi. Mr. Parsons attended University of Virginia and is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia where he graduated with cum laude honors in 1991 with degrees in Spanish and Political Science. While attending college, he spent a year abroad in Valencia, Spain. He received his J.D. in 1995 from the University of Mississippi School of Law, where he served as editor for the Mississippi Law Journal and won American Jurisprudence Awards for first in class in Property II, Ethics and Corrections. Mr. Parsons also served a co-chairman of the Moot Court Board.. I have focused my practice on all aspects of family and domestic relations law, including divorce, division of assets, custody, alimony, child support, support modification, legitimation, paternity, and contempt since 1987. I have been privileged to hold many leadership positions in the legal profession in the State of Georgia, including fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers which is an exclusive organization of the nation's preeminent family law practitioners, master of the Charles Longstreet Weltner Family Law Inn of Court, chair of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia, Trustee and member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees for the Institute of Continuing Judicial Education which bears primary responsibility for basic training and continuing education of Georgia's judicial branch, and chair of the the Commission on Continuing Lawyer Competency. I frequently speak on family-law topics throughout Georgia and have published many articles on family law for Continuing Legal Education seminars. I am a co-author of family law legislation. In addition to my trial experience, I have extensive expertise in resolving cases by mediation and settlement, I am also a fully-trained mediator and late-case evaluator.
