James M. Poe is an experienced and effective personal injury plaintiff’s attorney with particular expertise in medical malpractice. In practice since 1974, Jim has held a Martindale-Hubbell rating of AV (its highest rating) for more than 25 years, and has been voted a Georgia Superlawyer in medical malpractice by his peers every year from 2007-2017.. Jim began his law career as an insurance defense litigator with Swift, Currie, McGhee and Hiers, then left in 1983 with seven other partners to form the firm Drew, Eckl, and Farnham, also an insurance defense practice. His years of experience in representing insurance companies in serious cases taught him the issue analysis  and presentation skills that effectively move insurors toward  settlement.. While at Drew, Eckl, Jim handled a number of plaintiff’s matters – an experience he found both challenging and rewarding.  In 2003, he determined to enter a plaintiff’s practice full-time, forming the firm James M. Poe, P.C. He has handled a wide variety of personal injury, medical malpractice, product liability and wrongful death cases with significant positive results, including multiple seven and high-six-figure verdicts and settlements. In addition to negotiating many large settlements, Jim has won a number of sizable victories at trial, and has defended those verdicts as lead counsel in more than 40 appeals before the Georgia Court of Appeals, the Georgia Supreme Court and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 5th and 11th Circuits..
